Having worked in shelter and seeing the most let down dogs. I know how to build trust and understand body language.
Dogs may not speak but if you take the time to understand their body language it’ll change everything.
Today huge win 🥇 when you are a multi disciplinary team and the physio, vet, caregiver and you as the behaviourist are aligned. All working together to best support the dog it’s what this job is about ❤️
Black and white cat Hercules was licking Eros the tabby. Then the stare before the attack. All to get Eros out the chair. Cats resource guard too not just dogs. I took Hercules away after this hence end of film

Lovely to connect with like minded people who love dogs. Thank you for organising Lily Moffat ♥️

An amazing course which I’m integrating into my behaviour consultations. Our human homes are rarely adapted for our canine companions

It’s the little things. Our homes are created for us humans not dogs. Little changes can make a big difference, on the left Gatsby is in a holiday home with a slippery floor and on the right the food bowl has been lifted and he is standing on a non slip surface at home. Feeding time should be an enjoyable, pain free experience for our dogs ♥️

Hopefully ‘he’s friendly’ brigade will give Gatsby space, also have yellow lead.

As a sensitive dog owner myself it’s always a balance wide open spaces often come with shooting. Absolutely lovely to have the paths as our own, some tricky styles, lots of sniffing opportunities and then loud bangs. Not ideal but Gatsby coped. The pic shows a boy stressed, he’s not barking or lunging but I know he’s not happy. We processed deer moving at pace from a distance. My boy has high prey drive it’s about recalling at the right time and providing outlets. There are some awesome realistic toys out there. To decompress a bone marrow, took the squeaker out of real life looking rabbit which is why any squeaker toys need close supervision. Gatsby is now destroying the rest of the toy and that’s ok as ripping, shredding, biting are all vital to emptying our dogs stress bucket ❤️

Torrential rain = quiet walk which is perfect for sensitive dogs like Gatsby. We had the whole area to ourselves and here Gatsby is processing. This is so powerful for our dogs and for us to be in the moment and take it all in. Like us our dogs need a break from the hussle and bussle and empty the stress bucket and calm the sympathetic nervous system.
As close to Padstow as we took Gatsby. So many dogs being walked on the collar or with head collars and not being able to sniff. Whale eyes in some cases, tails tucked in others. It’s ok to grab a Cornish pasty without your pooch ❤️
The rain doesn’t stop my caregivers taking me out and it means less people and dogs which totally suits me as an extrovert. Why humans expect me to like every dog and human because I’m a Labrador makes my hairs want to stand on end. Do you humans like everyone so please stop putting so much pressure on dogs like me!
