A big challenge in 11+ reading comprehension is this:

Examiners will often include vocabulary children are unlikely to know.

They are not expecting children to panic. They are testing whether they can stay calm, read around the word, and use clues from the rest of the passage to work out the meaning.

Strong readers don’t stop when they see difficult vocabulary. They think logically, use context, and keep moving forward.
