The actor has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry through performances in well received dramas such as Alif and Sang e Mar Mar. In an interview to Fuchsia Magazine, Kubra spoke about the experience of playing her latest character, Mashal, in Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay. The drama also stars Mahira Khan and Usman Mukhtar and has garnered rave reviews so far.

"I didn't expect Mashal would get so much attention," Kubra confessed. "I knew she was a dark, or rather a grey character, but I did not expect people would notice all the different shades of her as well. That's the shocking part for me because often characters are written as either negative or positive, and people then have very black and white perceptions about these characters. But Mashal is neither completely negative nor positive, she is a grey character who has a lot of layers."

She said she loves the fact that people can see the reason behind her evilness. "There's pain in her. I am not saying that she is not bad. She is bad, I am not going to defend her, but obviously there's a reason for it," Kubra added.

The actor spoke about the experience of playing a character with many villainous traits. "Whether you are playing a positive character or a negative character, you have to believe the character is right," she said. "Mashal is completely negative but if she believes she's right, she'll keep doing the sort of naughty things she's always doing. I'm not playing Mashal by being Kubra, I'm playing Mashal by believing that I truly am Mashal herself."

In a setback for Pakistan, the England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced that their team would not be visiting the country, a statement from the board said Monday, after New Zealand had pulled its team out at the last-minute ahead of its series due to "security" concerns.

The ECB said it had a "longstanding commitment" to tour Pakistan as part of the Men's Future Tours Programme in 2022, as it had agreed to play two additional T20 World Cup warm-up games in October, adding a short women's tour with double headers alongside the men's games.
The ECB Board convened this weekend to discuss these extra England Women's and Men's games in Pakistan and we can confirm that the Board has reluctantly decided to withdraw both teams from the October trip," the board said in a statement.

The board said the "mental and physical well-being" of its players and support staff remains their highest priority and this was even more critical given the times "we are currently living in".

"We know there are increasing concerns about travelling to the region and believe that going ahead will add further pressure to a playing group who have already coped with a long period of operating in restricted COVID environments," the statement said.

The ECB said there was an "added complexity" for its men's T20 squad, as it believes that touring under "these conditions" would not be ideal preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, where performing well remains a top priority for 2021.

"We understand that this decision will be a significant disappointment to the PCB, who have worked tirelessly to host the return of international cricket in their country," the ECB said.

England's men and women teams were due to play two Twenty20s in Rawalpindi on October 13 and 14. The women's team are also due to play three ODIs in Pakistan on October 17, 19, and 21.

Pakistan will finally be removed from the United Kingdom's red list on September 22 (Wednesday), the country's Secretary of State for Transport Rt Hon Grant Shapps said Friday.

Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh, Kenya, Turkey, Egypt, and the Maldives are among the eight countries that are set to be removed from England's red list, according to the British official.

In August, the UK retained Pakistan on its red list, as the country failed to meet the requirements on genomic surveillance capability, transmission risk, and variants of concern.

Providing further updates on travel restrictions, the British official said the government was making coronavirus testing easier for travel from October 4.

"If you’re fully [vaccinated] you won’t need a pre-departure test before arrival into England from a non-red country and from later in Oct, will be able to replace the day 2 PCR test with a cheaper lateral flow," he said

The New Zealand cricket team on Friday backed out of its tour of Pakistan over security concerns minutes before the first match was scheduled to start at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board said that New Zealand Cricket (NZC) informed the board they had been alerted to "some security alert" and unilaterally decided to postpone the series.

The New Zealand contingent in Pakistan is now preparing to leave the country. The NZC said Pakistan had been “wonderful hosts” but added that player safety was “paramount”.

The touring board said it "will not comment on the details of the security threat nor the updated arrangements for the departing squad".

Meanwhile, the PCB said Pakistan had “foolproof security arrangements for all visiting teams” and had “assured NZC of the same”.

The statement said that Prime Minister Imran Khan also personally spoke to Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister of New Zealand, and informed her that Pakistan had "one of the best intelligence systems in the world and that no security threat of any kind" existed for the visiting team.

"The security officials with the New Zealand team have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the government throughout their stay," the statement said, adding that the PCB was willing to continue the matches.

"Cricket lovers in Pakistan and around the world will be disappointed by this last minute withdrawal," the PCB said.

Echoing the statement, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja in a tweet termed it a "crazy day", saying he felt sorry for the fans and Pakistani players.

"Walking out of the tour by taking a unilateral approach on a security threat is very frustrating. Especially when it’s not shared!! Which world is New Zealand living in?? New Zealand will hear us at ICC," he wrote.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said she totally supported New Zealand Cricket's decision to pull out of the tour.

"When I spoke with the Prime Minister of Pakistan I conveyed our thanks for taking care of the New Zealand Cricket team," Ardern said in a statement sent to Reuters.

"I know how disappointing it will be for everyone that the game hasn’t gone ahead, but we totally support the decision that’s been made. Player safety has to be paramount.”

The New Zealand cricket team had arrived in Pakistan on September 11 for the first time in 18 years to play three ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals.

The ODI series against New Zealand was supposed to be played at the Rawalpindi Stadium, with matches scheduled for Sept 17, 19, and 21, while the Gaddafi Stadium was slated to host five T20s from Sept 25 to Oct 3.
