In a Stocks & Shares ISA, your money may be invested into several different assets including shares, bonds, property and cash. This means that your money is at risk, and the value of your savings can rise or fall depending on market conditions.
In a Cash ISA, the money that you choose to contribute earns a fixed rate of interest and isn’t at risk of losing value. However, Cash ISA interest rates are currently lower than the rate of inflation, so the buying power of your money is decreasing.

Plenty of tax news in the media at the moment now that we've entered the 2023/24 tax year! In his inaugural Autumn Budget, chancellor Jeremy Hunt made several changes which will impact investors this 2023/24 tax year. These changes came into effect from 6 April.
If it's feeling a little overwhelming and you're unsure how the these changes apply to your individual circumstances and investments, reach out to us at open-money.co.uk for an obligation-free chat.

It's interesting to see how ISA allowances have changed over the last decade! 📈 Here are some key things to know now that we've officially entered a new tax year:
➡️ The tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April, and the new tax year means an ISA allowance reset. The limit this 2023/24 tax year will remain the same as last year, at £20,000.
➡️ You're able to split your ISA allowance any way you like across a Stocks and Shares ISA, Cash ISA, Lifetime ISA (maximum of £4,000), as long as you stay within the overall limit.
➡️ For example, you could put £3,000 in a Cash ISA, £5,000 in a Lifetime ISA and the remaining £12,000 in a Stocks and Shares ISA.
➡️ Junior ISAs have a separate limit which is £9,000 this tax year.

The ISA allowance for the 2022/2023 tax year is £20,000. If you’re in a position to do so, maxing out your ISA could have amazing benefits for your finances. You have until midnight on 5th April to contribute, before the tax year resets.
