The Super Eagles showed flashes of quality, but Portugal's experience and composure proved decisive. There were positives for Nigeria to build on, especially in attack, but consistency remains key against top European opposition.

:::writing{variant="social_post" id="58241"} Kieran McKenna's remarkable journey with Ipswich Town appears to be entering a new chapter, with the highly-rated coach set to step away from football management for a period of rest and reflection.
The 40-year-old has been heavily linked with the vacant Fulham job following Marco Silva's departure, but reports suggest McKenna has no intention of taking up a new role anytime soon. Instead, he is choosing to take a break after overseeing one of the most impressive managerial projects in recent English football.
McKenna transformed Ipswich from League One hopefuls into a Premier League club, earning widespread admiration for his tactical intelligence, leadership, and ability to develop players. While his departure will undoubtedly be a blow to Ipswich supporters, the club is protected financially thanks to contractual safeguards put in place during his tenure.
The big question now is: how long will football be willing to wait? With McKenna regarded as one of the brightest young managers in the game, it seems only a matter of time before one of Europe's top clubs comes calling.
A well-earned break for a manager whose stock has never been higher. :::

Brighton have done it again.
The Seagulls have secured the signing of Nigerian wonderkid Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm on a long-term deal until 2031, beating Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester City and several European giants to one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
At just 18, Yohanna has exploded onto the scene in Sweden with his pace, direct dribbling, creativity and eye for goal. His performances attracted serious interest across Europe, with Chelsea even submitting a formal offer before Brighton won the race for his signature.
So, did Chelsea make a mistake?
Maybe not immediately, but this is exactly the type of signing that could come back to haunt them. Brighton have built a reputation for identifying elite young talent before everyone else and providing the perfect pathway for development. Players receive opportunities, regular football and clear progression rather than getting lost in a crowded squad.
Yohanna reportedly chose Brighton because of their track record of developing young stars, believing it was the best environment for his growth. That decision speaks volumes.
Chelsea's squad is already packed with young attacking talent, so missing out on Yohanna may not hurt today. But if the Nigerian winger fulfills his enormous potential, Brighton could once again sell a future star for a huge profit — perhaps even back to Chelsea.
For now, Brighton deserve credit. They identified the talent, moved decisively and convinced one of Africa's brightest prospects that the Amex Stadium is the best place for his future.
The real verdict on whether Chelsea made a mistake will come in three or four years. If Yohanna becomes the next Premier League superstar, this could be remembered as another Brighton masterclass in recruitment.

Chelsea's reported interest in both Maxence Lacroix and Adam Wharton could be one of the smartest pieces of business this summer.

Lacroix would bring pace, aggression, leadership, and Premier League experience to a Chelsea defence that has often looked vulnerable under pressure. His ability to defend in open spaces and dominate physical battles makes him an ideal fit for a team looking to compete at the highest level. Reports suggest Chelsea have been monitoring the Crystal Palace defender closely.

Adam Wharton, meanwhile, is one of the most exciting young midfielders in England. His composure on the ball, vision, passing range, and intelligence have made him a target for several European giants, with Chelsea among the clubs linked with the talented midfielder.

If Chelsea manage to sign both players, they wouldn't just be adding quality—they'd be adding players who are already proven in the Premier League and have the potential to become long-term cornerstones of the squad.

Lacroix strengthens the back line. Wharton controls the midfield.

On paper, it looks like the kind of transfer strategy that could take Chelsea much closer to challenging for major trophies again.

Would you take both at Stamford Bridge this summer?

From the Unity Cup to the match against Poland, there have been clear signs of improvement in the Super Eagles under Eric Chelle.
The team looks more compact, better organized, and shows greater understanding between the players. The pressing has improved, transitions are quicker, and there is more purpose in possession. Most importantly, the players appear committed to the coach's philosophy and are gradually adapting to his tactical demands.
