I’m not an expert, just an ADHDer figuring it out - sharing the ride to help others do the same.

Do you ever start something and then get distracted by, well, literally anything else?🙃
Yeah… me too.
Even just now, I was putting my washing away, and I ended up making this post instead.
ADHD brains can be incredible at starting things…
But not so incredible when it comes to finishing them.
It’s not laziness, it’s just how our brains work.

ADHD shows up in more ways than people realise.
These are 5 symptoms that often get missed✨

Sometimes your brain and body just react louder than everyone else’s.
That’s ADHD - not overreacting, just wired differently✨

So many people live with ADHD for years without realising it. These signs can be missed, misunderstood, or written off as personality flaws. Getting diagnosed isn’t about labelling yourself - it’s about finally understanding your brain and giving it the support it needs 🧠✨

Being called “rude” is something so many ADHDers experience - whether it’s interrupting, zoning out, or simply confronting someone who hurt us. It isn’t rudeness, it’s our brains processing emotions and conversations differently. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood this way, you’re not alone 💛

Emotional dysregulation is one of the lesser known parts of ADHD. It’s not just being “too sensitive”, it’s your brain working differently.
With ADHD, emotions can hit suddenly, feel intense, and take longer to calm down. Even small things can trigger big reactions.
Understanding this is the first step to realising it’s not your fault - your brain just works in its own way❤️

ADHD & Hyperfocus.
It’s not “just being focused” - it’s a whole different ADHD experience. It can be powerful, but it can also leave you drained, behind on everything else, and wondering where the time went 🕒

Being diagnosed with ADHD later in life can be emotional - not just because it explains so much, but because it finally validates years (or decades) of feeling “different” without knowing why.

Many of us were misdiagnosed, dismissed, or told our struggles were flaws in our character. The truth is, ADHD can present in non typical ways, especially in women - and without the right lens, it’s often mistaken for anxiety, depression, or even a personality disorder.

A diagnosis doesn’t “fix” everything, but it can change everything - because when you understand your brain, you can finally work with it instead of constantly fighting it💛

ADHD & Black And White Thinking
Black and white thinking is super common with ADHD - and it can make life feel like a constant emotional
rollercoaster. Learning to spot it is the first step to slowing it down🧠

ADHD & Emotional Mirroring 💛
ADHD brains can “absorb” other people’s emotions without realising it - which can be exhausting if you’re surrounded by negativity. Recognising it is the first step to protecting your own emotional energy.

So many of us spent years being treated for the wrong thing - or not being treated at all.
Because our ADHD didn’t look “obvious.”
Doctors saw anxiety. Or depression. Or just wrote us off as dramatic or lazy.
And for many, this meant years of masking, confusion, and shame.
You’re not broken. You just weren’t seen.

If I can’t do all of something… my brain convinces me not to start any of it.
No half jobs. No quick emails. No quick cleans around the house.
Just avoidance → guilt → overwhelm.
It’s an all or nothing loop I can’t seem to escape.
Anyone else feel stuck in this?
