Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis has been Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth since 1st September 2013. Formerly Chief Rabbi of Ireland, Rabbi Mirvis was Senior Rabbi of Kinloss Synagogue in Finchley from 1996-2013.

I was delighted to welcome the wonderful Rabbi Aaron and Rebbetzen Miriam Lipsey, and to officiate at the Induction of Rabbi Lipsey as Rabbi of the New West End Synagogue, so admirably led by Chairman, Jeff Altman.

I am heartbroken to learn of the killing of Michael Mizrahi, a member of Montreal’s Jewish community, alongside police officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, who lost his life in the same shocking attack in Côte-des-Neiges.
While the full circumstances are still unclear, our thoughts are with their families and loved ones. We stand with the Jewish community of Montreal at this painful time.

The violent attacks in Edinburgh on Friday, in which five men were injured and worshippers were assaulted as they left a mosque, are a horrifying act of anti-Muslim hatred on British soil.
I send best wishes to those who were hurt, to their families, and to Muslim communities across Scotland and the wider United Kingdom, for whom these days will have been filled with fear and grief.
