FoodCycle community meals bring people together for good food and conversation. We serve up free, wholesome meals made from food that would have gone to waste.

Join us - there's a seat for everyone. Our meals are prepared by volunteers and open to everyone. But FoodCycle is about more than food – we create a cycle of positive change. Reducing food waste and hunger, tackling loneliness, supporting mental health, encouraging healthy eating and sustainable living. Together we’re nourishing communities – plate by plate, chat by chat.

On Friday 5th June we held another volunteer celebration event, this time it was for volunteers and Project Leaders from our East, Central, South West and Wales community meals.

It was a fantastic day of celebrating achievements and discussing how we can keep supporting our guests, plate by plate, chat by chat.

A special thanks to our corporate partner Wagamama for hosting their ‘moments that matter’ session, JLR in Castle Bromwich for hosting us in their venue, Eurest and Compass Group UK & Ireland for providing an incredible lunch.

It's always good to give back to our amazing volunteers.

It's Carers Week 💙

Caring for someone you love is one of the most giving things a person can do, and one of the loneliest.

At FoodCycle, we want carers to know there's a table with your name on it. A place to sit down, eat a hot meal, and just breathe for a little while. A place where you can make friends and just be you.

If you're a carer, or you know one who could do with a warm welcome, find your nearest FoodCycle project and come as you are.

Swipe to see what some of our guests have to say about the impact FoodCycle has on them.

Thinking about volunteering but not sure if you can commit?

Here's the thing: with FoodCycle, there's no minimum commitment. Just sign up, and volunteer whenever you're available.
Weekly, monthly, or just when life gives you a free afternoon.
We love it when volunteers keep coming back (and they usually do!), but we meet you where you are.

And it's not just about the time you give.

When you register as a FoodCycle volunteer, you'll receive training in Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Safeguarding. You'll also get access to a range of free online resources through our volunteer portal, including mental health awareness and guides for serving nutritious meals and connecting with guests.

Skills you can carry with you, whether that's into other volunteering or your career.

Fun, flexible, and good for you too. What's not to love?

Who better to talk about volunteering at FoodCycle than a volunteer?

Peter supports our Wythenshawe location and has been with us for over 18 months.

It's helped him really get to know his community and the people in it.

Fancy joining him?

On Sunday, we brought together volunteers and Project leaders from across London and the Southeast, where we celebrated achievements and discussed how we can keep supporting our guests, plate by plate, chat by chat.

A special thanks to our corporate partner Wagamama for hosting their ‘moments that matter’ session, EdCity for hosting us in their beautiful venue, COOK for donating some delicious treats and to The Gleaners Café, who cooked up a tasty lunch.

Days like this remind us exactly what FoodCycle is all about. Not just the meals, but the people behind them.

This National Volunteers Week, we want to shout out the most incredible people: our volunteers.

In 2025, 8,266 volunteers gave 180,764 hours of their time, dishing up 177,062 meals for people who needed them most.

That's not just a statistic. That's thousands of acts of kindness, one meal at a time.

Throughout this week, we'll be sharing some of their stories. Keep an eye out for the people who make FoodCycle what it is.

Whether you love cooking, chatting over a cuppa, washing up, or just rolling your sleeves up and pitching in, there's a place for you on our volunteer team.

Fun. Friendship. And making a real difference in your community.

No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

This World Hunger Day, we’re sharing the words of our guests, who explain what access to a free, nutritious FoodCycle meal means to them.

For some, it means having a proper meal at the end of the day. For others, it means trying new foods, learning more about cooking, or feeling able to eat well more often.

The meals we create help reduce hunger and improve nutrition in local communities. If you’d like to support this work, a donation to FoodCycle can help us continue sharing good food with people across our communities.

Picnic weather has arrived, and we’re making the most of it ☀️🧺

This June, why not gather your favourite people and host a Come Dine With Me picnic for FoodCycle?

Pack your favourite snacks, bring a blanket, invite your friends and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of good food, good company and a little fundraising too.

You don’t need to cook a three-course feast to get involved. A picnic in the park, a garden lunch or everyone bringing a dish is more than enough.
