The Turing Bird Machine. Sine waves are magic. When I was designing the Workshop Computer, I spoke to Prof Hunter Adams at Cornell who sets his 3rd year students the task of fooling the Merlin bird identification app with a 50¢ microcontroller. This is some vibe code evolved from Hunter’s examples merged with my Turing Machine random looping sequencer. It synthesises two birds singing to each other from the left and right audio outputs, and also sends out CV and pulses as a weirdly acidic bird sequencer, takes external clocks so you can sync your birds with your drum machine. I’ll publish the code at the Music Thing github once I get round to it. Thanks as ever to .johnson074 for building the library that makes this stuff easy for the coding robot to understand, and for teaching me to ask it the right questions. Power and sound from .

Beautiful meditative performance by Brian Crabtree of monome. The grid is running meadowphysics, a touch-to-midi system, and connected to the Workshop Computer for power + data over USB, with the Reverb+ card by .johnson074 acting as midi host (and reverb). is responsible for helping monome make friends with WS - this stuff makes me inordinately proud and excited.
