I was able to take some time out of the computer this week and spend some time marbling and taking time to practice this amazing craft.
It may look effortless but there are so many variables to work out when the print doesn’t come out as planned.
I was testing marbling on wooden frames and pencil pots this week in a bid to hopefully offer this as a club…maybe just for the adults…

I highly recommend marbling with foam though you may way to do it outside and make sure you’re wearing old clothes for it is messy!
It was kind bending to see how the prints appeared. An exploration for the kids and adults to play and learn from one another.

A very chilled Friday Drop-in club.
I forgot to take more photos as usual!

Also the kids can create what they’d like with the materials I have available (see last slide 🥰)
My club is a space for all and a safe space to practice those fine motor skills, creative and critical thinking, and to have time in community with others.

I filmed this yesterday while I set up for the Friday drop in. I forgot to film the end set up!
But it’s a little insight into the prep I do before a club. I also cut up a lot of paper yesterday that I didn’t film!
Thank you for those of you who popped in. It was a little sanctuary of cutting and sticking. Some clubs aren’t busy but we all need that from time to time.

Can you tell I’m excited from my commentary!?
I’ve treated myself to some Natural Fluid Acrylik Paint with some birthday money I got given.
I can’t wait to use them in the marbling bath and explore more colours and practice my technique.
I’m becoming more aware of using acrylic paint and also what happens to the paint and water when you wash up your tools after using them.
So I’m trying to make small changes when and where I can.

This Friday is my drop in club!
Come and spend time collaging your own favourite letter - appropriate for being in the library!
When I was planning sessions, I was thinking about the books that have the massive glorious first letter of the chapter - I love the visuals of a book!
Come and look through all my saved paper - I can probably tell you how I printed it or where I saved it from - I might not be able to hold a 5 digit number in my head but my long term paper repertoire is excellent!

I’ll be bringing all my saved paper - to which I can tell you where each one has been saved from or how I made it…

I’ve been learning how to make the other items with the badge maker.
The process and feel of my other badge maker, is so engrained it feels odd using this new one even though it’s almost identical.
I’ll get there!

I’ve bought a new badge maker!
Mine is almost 20 years old…I was keen to get the next size up and also be able to make key rings and magnets.
I can’t wait to test it out this weekend. I’ll be at St Margaret’s Lee Summer Fair this Saturday - Dacre Park - SE13 5SQ
Watching adults and kids see the badge appear is a wonderful moment.
