Sunspot, Jaywick Sands, is a seafront community business centre, delivering 24 affordable units, a covered market, café, event space and community gardens on a former brownfield site, designed by HAT Projects for Tendring District Council with support from the Getting Building Fund.

Since completing it has won the Civic Trust Award, Special Award for Community Impact & Engagement, RIBA East Award 2025, Planning Awards 2024 and a place in The Guardian’s Top 5 Architecture Projects of 2023.

We are proud to have acted as Quantity Surveyors, managing costs on a challenging contaminated site and helping to secure the additional funding that made it possible.

The conference brought together 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 to discuss the future of affordable housing across the region.

With insightful presentations covering devolution, housing funding, development aspirations, skills retention, AI, regeneration and net zero housing, the conference provided valuable perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.

With the 𝗝𝗟𝗟 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗻 just weeks away, the Potter R***r team headed to Serpentine in Hyde Park this week for an open-water swim training session.
Open-water swimming is a very different challenge to pool swimming - and with a 𝟳𝟱𝟬𝗺 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗺 at Dorney Lake as the first leg on race day, we wanted to get some proper practice in early. Sighting, wetsuits, and cold water - all conquered. The team came away feeling confident and ready.

Delivered for 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 and designed by , Phase 1 of Lexden Gardens involves the design, construction, conversion and refurbishment of the former Essex County Hospital site on Lexden Road, Colchester, providing 63 high-quality new homes.

The development sensitively restores and repurposes the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗜𝗜 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 building, combining heritage conservation with contemporary residential design to create a vibrant new community.

The project has already received significant industry recognition, including the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 (𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲).
