CPR training is part of the U.K. secondary school curriculum, but recent findings show it's not always being delivered.
The Resuscitation Council U.K. are calling on governments to implement support and monitoring systems that ensure every student actually receives this vital training.

Heat stress is the leading cause of weather-related deaths & can worsen underlying health issues. Did you know that a heart attack and cardiac arrest are not the same thing?
They're actually two different medical emergencies.

ANSWER: They are both the perfect size to block a child’s windpipe.
Would you know what to do if they were chocking?
If not you need to be first aid trained.
What you can do though is avoid the situation in the first place.
Always cut grapes, mini eggs, baby tomatoes and anything else you think might cause a blockage lengthwise before giving it to a child and preferably into quarters!
Other things you can do with mini eggs as cutting them isn’t easy are:
1. Hide them from the children and eat them yourself – good luck with that! 🤣
2. Break them into small pieces with a rolling pin. Or, crush them in a pestle & mortar
3. Opt for a different treat. Larger, hollow eggs are much safer for little children.

A Monday myth buster:
Myth: Non-first aiders can’t use an AED ⚡
This myth was possibly caused by some AED cabinets saying, “for trained personnel only”.
But this is a myth that needs to go! Especially as it could prevent someone getting the help they need.
You are not required to have any training before using an AED.
AEDs have been designed for public use and once activated, will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.

Myth: Don’t put ice on a head injury 🧊
This myth keeps doing the rounds even amongst first aid trainers! The myths circulated suggest that placing ice on a head injury will cause blood clotting in the brain.
If this was the case, our bodies would go into a clotting catastrophe every time we dipped our big toe in the North Sea! 🌊
The priority is always to consider if there could be concussion, compression or a spinal injury – but if someone simply has swelling or bruising from a bump on the head, an ice pack wrapped in a tea towel is the perfect treatment!
