Unfortunately this is far too common on the PS5. The liquid metal burns onto the heatsink/ APU and will no longer spread, leaving a gap. This in turn causes overheating issues, that if left unresolved can cause the APU to fail.

Liquid damaged PS5, turnaround in 1 day! Full cleaning, liquid metal replacement and motherboard cleaning.

Another instance of negligence from a local repair store. This time a PS5 overheating as they had used thermal paste on the APU. The PS5 APU must have liquid metal, or it will overheat and can cause permanent damage especially if you mix the thermal paste with old liquid metal.
Fortunately we were able to rescue this poorly attempted repair in time for the new year!
