Every year in the week of 12 May, we celebrate International Nurses' Day—the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. At MTS, it's a moment to honour the extraordinary professionals who form the backbone of healthcare systems globally.

The 2026 theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives," reminds us that nurses are leaders, innovators, and primary advocates for patient safety. Investing in and empowering nurses is the most direct way to improve global health outcomes.

Our global nursing community:
We're privileged to support thousands of nurses taking their next professional steps. Many sit IELTS exams at our UK, Ireland, European, or Brazil centres as they prepare to bring vital skills to healthcare sectors worldwide. We also deliver OET (specialist medical English) in Manchester.

Between January and April 2026, MTS welcomed hundreds of nurses from over 100 countries. Our top 10 nationalities included Nigeria (34%), India (14%), Ghana (13%), UK (7%), and Philippines (6%).

Celebrating diversity:
20% of our nursing IELTS test-takers were men—reflecting a more modern, inclusive workforce. Nursing is defined by skill, clinical excellence, and empathy, not gender.

MTS opens its doors to democracy as well as exams: MTS serves as a Polling Station for London’s Hammersmith and Fulham local council elections 2026

In a proud act of civic engagement, MTS is opening up its head office and London exam centre to local voters, transforming its ground floor area into a bustling hub of democracy today (7 May 2026).

In England, voting began this morning for voters to select candidates for 5,000 seats across 136 English local councils, and MTS is helping by transforming its Zone 2 West London head office and largest exam venue (180 exam seats in one building) into one of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s local polling stations.

MTS’s venue facilities are ideal for accommodating voters from the west London area. Our venue has been prepared for Election Day, equipped with all the necessary amenities, including private polling booths and secure ballot areas, in our newly renovated ground floor areas, ensuring a perfect voting experience.

MTS’s collaboration with the Electoral Services Team at the London Borough Hammersmith and Fulham indicates our dedication to community involvement and democratic participation.

As our CEO Michal Mazanek states: “We are delighted to support the democratic process and provide our exam venue facilities for this important democratic event.”

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day and MTS’s Ireland-based IELTS test takers

MTS wishes all our Ireland-based IELTS test takers a very happy St. Patrick’s Day. If you find yourself in Ireland on 17 March, you’ll notice a lot of people wearing green (Ireland’s ‘people’s colour’), and the ‘craic’ (fun) is easily found.

Since it is a national holiday, many Irish people will take the day off work, and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

MTS delivers regular IELTS test dates in our IELTS test centres in Dublin and Galway, and we can run sessions in other places such as Limerick and Cork.

And what an international group of customers we have in Ireland! In 2025 and in the first part of 2026, MTS welcomed thousands of IELTS test takers in our Irish test centres, coming from an impressive 92 different nationalities,
