This might be controversialā¦
But at the core, beyond mindful eating, sleeping well, ditching the scale and reframing your thoughts(all very important), there is a precious inner child, soul and human, longing deep meaningful connection - to be seen, belong and be loved.
Itās time to stop scratching the surface and unpack what is really holding you back, my love.
Itās time to gain clarity on your purpose beyond shrinking yourself and to cultivate compassion and tenderness for yourself.
If something you consciously want (binge freedom) goes against the belief you are not worthy of it or that you canāt really have it, your actions and energy wonāt align with that š
Letās do the digging work together (in addition to nourishment and meeting your physical needs) š»
What does that mean?
š inner child and shadow work
š subconscious reprogramming (updating your limiting beliefs holding you back)
š building and expanding emotional resilience (that means tolerance to *feel* your emotions, *understand* them and better be able to meet their needs)
šenergetic chakra alignment

This might be shockingā¦
When I started addressing binge eating as a multidimensional imbalance, and targeting each aspect of your humanity (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual AND energetic) ā it changed my practice and the results my clients saw.
As a specialist dietitian, somatic therapist, reiki practitioner and yoga teacher ā this is one of the many ancient wisdomās (dating back to the sacred texts called the Vedas from 1500 to 1000 BC). Ā
I love to honour and bring into the recovery work I do.
Hereās the thing.
Our very essence is energy. Peel back the tissues, zoom into the microscope and look at the atomic level, we are vibrating at a frequency. Its quantum physics ā yes (science).
This is something I find SO fascinating and is hardly ever talked about.
No only does yogic science speak about energy centres, known as chakras, but many ancient philosophies and healing modalities refer to their own version (basically saying the same thing) including the Egyptians, Taoists, Chinese medicine and the Kabbalah.
How does no one talk about this?!
āØInterestingly enough when I do somatic work with my clients, what they MOST often report are blocks/tension/pain in their hips, stomach and throat.
Can you relate?
Follow along for more and drop a š if you want to learn more about unblocking your chakras.

Where are my soul sisters at? š«
Ā
Logos (logic) and mythos (myth) co-existed for millennia, before collective consciousness shifted to devalue myth and overvalue logic, making it seem black or whiteā¦. like you needed to āpick a sideā and feel shame for being spiritual (or worse, burnt at the stake).
Ā
At least thatās how I felt for a long time, myself.
Ā
Shame.
Ā
For not necessarily only using āevidence-basedā methods.
Ā
For exploring the possibility that science might not have ALL the answers.
Ā
Donāt get me wrong, logic/science structure is amazing and essential (huge fan šš¼) and total science geek over here and granted, it has gifted us so many incredible developments.
Ā
However, I will be so bold to say it is categorically insufficient to base our wellbeing on only one point of view.
Ā
Neuroscience now shows we inherently possess a spiritual centre in the brain. Yet, the oppression of this innate capacity (psyche/spirit) is what contributes to many symptoms we see today, including depression, anxiety and binge eating.
Ā
The word āspiritā is derived from the Latin words āspiritusā (meaning breath, courage, vigor, or soul) and the word āspirareā (meaning to breathe).
Ā
It is quite literally the soul that invigorates our lives, squashed.
Ā
Leaving us like hungry ghosts - shells seeking to fill a void.
Ā
You catch my drift here? š
Ā
When we unpack binge eating behaviour, it often is correlated with disconnection and lack of purpose or meaning in life, desire for pleasure, ecstasy, love and soul.
Ā
In the literature, spiritual health includes connection to self, others, nature and God/source/collective consciousness or whatever language you use to describe a higher power.
Ā
Research now shows it supports mental wellbeing, consequently physical health and supports a felt sense of meaning in life.
So itās not about choosing sides, but bridging the two worlds.
Ā
That is why I share and teach spiritual modalities and practices to support recovery.

there is nothing more satisfying than witnessing a client go from āIāve tried every possible diet, therapy and still binge dailyā, to trying my Mind Body Food ⢠Method, and within the first two months, not having binged once.
*sigh*, life made.
The problem is that most approaches out there take on a singular perspective that either focus on nutrition and āeating healthyā OR the cognitive side where you need to reframe your thoughts and break habits.
The thing is, your eating behaviours and thoughts, are a consequence of deeper belief systems, self-worth, pleasure and embodiment, which canāt be changed in the long-term through only surface-level changes.
This is why I created the Mind Body Food Approach (which covers psychology/ somatics/ nutrition and soul purpose) to recovery.
A complex problem, never has a simple solution. But with a clear roadmap - itās possible for you.
Save this post as a reminder!
And keep your eyes peeled because I have an exciting announcement coming right up for a FREE offering you wonāt want to miss, next week.
Happy March, bliss-seeker!

Where are you on your journey? š«
Remember, itās never linear and there is no āperfectā trajectory!
And something Iāve learnt on my own healing journey is that itās important to celebrate and have FUN along the way.
Who wants to make it (dance their way)to the finish line? šš»š

āI just canāt have it in the house or I will literally stuff my face and CANāT STOPā, a client said.
Though, it was not because she was addicted or had no willpower.
Let me break it down ā¬ļø
š»Even though she ālet herself haveā the ice cream, as she ate it she constantly told herself āI should not be doing this, how can I do this to myself?, but itās too good, Iām disgusting, this is wrongāā¦
So she didnāt really ālet herselfā enjoy it. And because that was hopefully the ālast timeā she would do that, she had to finish it all and take advantage of it.
š»If we take it a layer deeper, and revisit when this all started for her, it takes us back to her childhood, when she was told at the ripe young age of 5 that she was āchubbyā and couldnāt eat sweets because she had to watch her weight.
> She started to believe, her body couldnāt be trusted, and she had to override it.
> She started to believe, she wouldnāt receive love unless she restricted herself.
> She started to believe, the only way she could experience this pleasure, was in secret.
The forbidden fruitš
š»And not only that⦠when mum and dad got into an argument or something happened at school that was out of her control, sneaking into the pantry was something she COULD be an agent of ā alas, a glimmer of freedom.
Food then served as an exhale ā a way to soothe her nervous system when things got tough.
šNotice, the intention behind her behaviour was self-compassionate and protective in nature. Only now, it was causing her more distress and it was time to update her belief systems.
What she had to learn instead?
āØHow to self-soothe without using food
āØDismantle the food hierarchies she had so the forbidden fruit was no longer forbidden and broke the spell
āØBuild confidence from within through subconscious reprogramming
āØRe-establish trust with her body to tell her what, how much and when to eat ā through embodied practices
I tell this story, because this IS possible for you too.
