A Junior and U23 Cycling team based in the UK helping young riders realise their cycling dreams on the Path to Pro. Racing in the UK and across Europe.

Supported by World-class coaching and science-based training.

Another roller coaster weekend for the team racing in Europe at the Grand Prix de Plouay! With warm-ups and presentations done and the support team in position, the race got underway in warm sunshine. 140+ km made up of 12 laps of an 11+ km circuit, which included a long finishing straight, a couple of punchy climbs and some super fast descents. The race stayed together for the first few laps. Oscar was involved in a minor crash, but managed to chase back on. Then, unfortunately, Ed and Dylan were both involved in a high-speed 70km/h crash on the finishing straight, which took them both out of the race. Fortunately, nothing broken, but some nasty road rash and bruises! With about 70km to go, a group of 7 riders, including Jack, broke away and worked well together to build a gap of over 30 seconds. With just under 30km to go, they were joined by another small group, which included Mak. With around 17km to go, they were then joined by another small group, which included Oscar, forming the elite group that would contest the final lap. With around 10km to go, Oscar launched an attack on the climb, which slimmed the group down. He was closed down by an FDJ rider, then more attacks followed, during which Mak, undoubtedly a contender for the final sprint, unfortunately lost contact with the group. Heading into the final 2km, Jack countered a move and hit the front, leading under the flamme rouge. In the final sprint, the boys gave it everything they could to come away with 8th place for Jack and 13th for Oscar. Fantastic work by all the boys, they raced aggressively and gave it everything to put themselves in a great position with the biggest representation of any team in the final stages of the race.

Race report from @mak_larkin :

"Was a quick race today and knew it would be a race off the front. Tried 3/4 times to break away but unfortunately half of them didn't stick and the rest got stopped due to the race being neutralised.

A break went up the road and knew it wasn't going to come back. And managed to get 2nd in the bunch sprint. A big thank you to @jack.baldie_ for getting me to the front for the sprint 🫡. Finishing 6th overall"

Great work by Mak who is proving to be canny and strong in thee final sprints.

Jack rode strongly all race, trying on numerous occasions to get away. In the end he finished in the main peloton after leading Mak out for the sprint.

@oscar_nisbett was involved in an incident with another rider which destroyed his front wheel and with the huge amount of traffic behind was unable to rejoin the action. @dan_cycling_ also had a couple of issues and similarly was unable to get back to the race.

Next up it's Cadence in a few weeks time 🔜

Thanks as ever to @trainsharp @romanbicycles @sykes_hd @secrettrainingcc @bioracerspeedwear @veloukwebsite and @daron_top_rod for DSing 28/04/2025

What a fantastic Easter weekend at Penn Ar Bed - Bro An Hirwahz UCI 2.1 in Bretagne.

After a pretty epic journey down there on Friday we spent the day doing a recon of the TT course in wind and rain! Fortunately on Saturday the weather cleared and it was warm and sunny for the 170+ starters who lined up for stage 1 - a 111km road race. It was a mixed bag for the team. Ed was suffering after a recent illness so DNF’d halfway in and Rocco had a pretty nasty crash on the final circuit which forced him to retire from the race. On the final KOM Oscar attacked the bunch to bridge across to a couple of breakaway riders and take 3rd place on the KOM, but the race came back together as it entered the final circuit. A group then got away from the bunch with Oscar managing to bridge across to join them before unfortunately being caught by the peloton with about 10k to go. They both finished with the leading group with Mak taking a superb 4th place on the line which earned him the right to wear the green jersey!

With Ed and Rocco both out we had 3 starters for stage 2 - a fast, flat 7.5km ITT. In blustery conditions the boys put in strong rides with Oscar 22nd in 09:52 putting him in 19th on GC. Ben on his first TT was 65th with 10:16 and Mak on his road bike was 80th with 10:26.

Stage 3 - a 120km road race - started down at the picturesque Saint-Mathieu lighthouse. The race was pretty much together until Oscar attacked on the climb out of La plage de Kerhornou with 80km to go and was joined by 3 others to form a break of 4 which built up a lead of over a minute as the race neared the final circuit at 30km to go. Without any Soudal Quickstep riders in the break it was always going to be tough and the peloton gradually reeled them in just before they hit the final circuit. Once together a strong group including a couple of SQS riders managed to get away and build up a sizable advantage to eventually take the win with Oscar and Mak finishing with the main bunch a couple of minutes behind.

The event was a great experience for the boys, they learnt a lot and have plenty of positives to take forward for the rest of the season.

Huge thanks to comite pennar bed, all their helpers, marshalls, motos, french cycling and UCI officials for putting on a first class and safe cycling event for these young riders. It really is exceptional! Special mention to David Fraser from Team Oxygene Ploudal Portsall for acting as official translator to help out the English speakers, it made a huge difference having him around to help us, especially with any questions/issues we had.

The team were in domestic action this weekend in various races across the country.

Saturday: saw @jack.baldie_ take the win in the 2/3/4 @uobathcycling race at Odd Down. The race started fast with a break going from the gun. Jack bridged across to it on lap 2. With 15 mins to go and still away he attacked the break and used his monster power to take an impressive solo victory! Also in action was TT specialist @_jacobleigh_ at the Ron Spencer Memorial 25 mile. Spindata predicted he would be 15th in 57.39, but he totally smashed that prediction to take 5th with 56.10!

Sunday:
@teeceroundxavier rode the PB Performance Espoirs Road Race, the first round of the Under-23 Open National Road Series. Again he showed his strength and potential getting into an early break with Dylan Hicks. Having spent too many matches he later went back to the main group. Attacks were going off left right and centre in the strong winds and he continued to ride strong until his group were pulled with 1 lap to go. With his big power and positive approach to racing a result is just around the corner.

@ollie_peckover, Sam Benge, @pedro_hutchinson and @oscar_nisbett were at the Kennel Hill Classic on the historic 1982 World Championship circuit in Goodwood for the Nat. B race. Again an early break went away and quickly gained over a minute on the main bunch. The boys didn’t panic and rode steadily until lap 3 when on an attritional, tough course the pace increased and the race split to pieces. Oscar and Pedro were both super strong in the front group which caught the remnants of the break with a lap to go. On the brutal final climb Oscar was able to finish strongly to get 9th (1st Junior).
