Tom Ward Racing
My name is Tom Ward I am a motorcycle racer from Kent. Racer in British Superbikes & World Endurance
Little update on the current recovery, I feel like I've made a lot of progress in the last few weeks! Off the crutches and been cycling a fair bit. Still quite a lot of muscle damage where the bone came out, so not a great amount of strength in the right leg but getting there ππΌ I have my 6 week x-ray in the next few days to see how the bone is getting on, so I will know more then but I'm obviously not riding at Oulton this weekend! Good luck to Eemeli Lahti and Tom Oliver and the Armada gang πͺπΌ
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of my personal Sponsors that have stuck by me through all of this, I really appreciate their support ππΌ

Thought I'd put an update on my condition after the crash at Cadwell, unfortunately I had a weird crash at the bottom of the mountain in FP1 which resulted in me breaking my femur which came out the skin. I remember most of it but I whacked my head pretty hard which is why I haven't been on my phone too much, as my vision hasn't been great! I just want to say a massive thank you to the marshalls and medics from the BSB team for looking after me. Surgery went well where they inserted a titanium rod and screws to fixate it at Hull Hospital. It's going to be a long road to recovery but I'm grateful to have amazing people around me, especially for looking after me day in day out! Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and I apologise if I haven't gotten back to you yet. A real shame to end the season like this as we were still in the championship hunt in 2nd but just incredibly grateful to not be worse off β€οΈ Thanks to everyone friends/family/supports I've really appreciate everything (btw I haven't had a front tooth for 7 months now it wasn't the crash π)

Thruxton was always going to be an unknown for us as we don't have much experience there with the Honda and 2022 being the last time I rode there. We were quick from FP1, in the top 3 and qualifying 3rd. Race 1 was tough as I cooked my tyre with 4 laps to go and dropped after leading most of the race, it was frustrating as I was just a sitting duck in the final few laps to cross the line P5!
We made some big changes that evening which helped massively for the next day, in race 2 I had a bad start but was patient with the tyre and slowly worked my way to the front of the battle for 2nd. I stayed behind Allingham and thought to play it safe after the day before.... by waiting till the end to try and pass into the final chicane where I felt strong. But Owens passed me with a few laps to go. I tried to get straight back past as I felt I had good tyre left and didn't want to let Allingham get away. I was in 4th on the penultimate lap and stayed as close as possible to line up a move into the final chicane, I got perfect drive out of church and slipstreamed Owens and got past half way down the back straight, there was a bit of a gap to Allingham but I felt there was still a possibility to get past into the final chicane, he held a defensive line which wasn't ideal as I had broken so late with more speed than normal because of the slipstream, so I had to let off the brakes to not take him out then still try to make the apex! My ambition outweighed my talent as I completely folded the front for about 30 meters where I thought I had crashed, somehow the back end stepped out and saved me from crashing which meant I ended up running over the chicane... I lost exactly 0.5 before the finish which meant I still ended up P3. Hopefully there will be some footage on the highlights race as it was definitely the biggest moment I've had on a bike π it was a fun race and I was happy with the improvements from race 1 to race 2! Always feel like you could have done more but just happy to finish strong πͺπΌ a big thanks to everyone in the Armada Marine Cables team for all their hard work! I'm really excited for Cadwell park next weekend, it's one of my favourite tracks so hopefully we can make some more progress!

P2 in Qualifying with the same laptime as Pole position +0.000. Followed up by 2 hard fought races for the win but crossing the line P3 ππ both times! Happy to be in the fight but a little disappointed, learn and move forward and onto the next one π! Massive congrats to my mate on the wins πͺπΌ

Another tough weekend with a technical problem on lap 3 which ruined our race. We were dead last by 24 minutes but kept going till the end. Our pace would have put us in contention for the win, which is a real blow especially after our mechanical problem at Le Mans.

After a tough few weeks following on from the tragic loss of Owen and Shane at Oulton park, it's always difficult to go straight back into racing. A lovely tribute on Saturday to celebrate their lives and seeing what a supportive community we have in racing.
Overall we had a successful weekend and got out of the 4th place rut from Oulton and Qualified P3 and finished P3 in the Race π new PBs and Plenty still to build on which is exciting for the rest of the season...
I'm so grateful to have such an amazing team around me, it really brings out the best and most importantly I'm enjoying every moment βΊοΈ
