Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday at the Knowsley Chamber Summer Social at the stunning Shakespeare North Playhouse.

We were treated to glorious sunshine, delicious canapés and drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for connecting with fellow members and friends of the Chamber.

Knowsley Chamber of Commerce attended the opening of The Royal Academy of Engineering’s new Enterprise Hub at Central Tech in Liverpool last week. The Hub is designed to support local engineering and technology innovators and entrepreneurs by providing equity-free funding, smart and flexible training, and mentoring from industry experts.

Liverpool becomes the Academy’s fifth location outside of London, joining Belfast, Swansea, Glasgow, and Newcastle. Led by Senior Enterprise Manager Ben McAlinden and situated in the heart of the city’s Knowledge Quarter, the Liverpool Hub aims to support bold, IP-rich innovations from across all areas of engineering and technology throughout the wider North West region. Its mission is to help solve some of the world’s most complex environmental, economic, and social challenges.

This morning, members of our Visitor Economy Network gathered in the beautiful surroundings of Bowring Park for a productive and inspiring development session.

We began with a recap of key takeaways from February’s session, followed by an insightful update from Jan Nuzum of the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, highlighting regional developments and opportunities.

Next, Dale Milburn Executive Director of Regeneration and Economic Development at Knowsley Council, shared a wide-ranging update on local and national activities. From the upcoming Knowsley Ambassadors event on 15 July (with a spotlight on AI), to the exciting refresh of the Discover Knowsley website, and a jam-packed calendar of events including:

Knowsley Flower Show– 3 August

Serious Nonsense Festival and much more!

We also heard from Chloe Clarke (One Day Regen), who tackled sector challenges in the Visitor Economy, with a strong focus on careers, skills development, and mentoring – helping bridge the gap for young people and strengthen hospitality’s future.

Representing Shakespeare North Playhouse Claire Will shared exciting insights into the playhouse’s 2025–2030 vision, their growing volunteer programme, impactful community work, and national recognition – with much more to come.

The morning concluded with an engaging Q&A session, sparking brilliant ideas and collaborative thinking for the future of Knowsley’s visitor economy.
