A fantastic two weeks of running everyone
Another week, another set of miles, smiles, and slightly questionable mountainous routes… ⛰️
Saturday saw Stephen Evans ride from his house to Cardiff to then destroy the Carten100 race…how’s the 🍑 feeling?
Louisa Hill completed The Lap. Not quite an ordinary lap but a beautifully mountainous 46.5 Mile lap in the Lake District. Absolutely Fantastic and she finished the race with the biggest smile 😆
Graham Wearne smiled proudly after finishing 5th in the EPONA 100K. Another Saturday rambling through the mountain tops. Always in awe. 👏🏽
Jen Judd Took the boys for a morning trail run. Great job keeping up Darren and Luke Davies!!
Helen Williams absolutely smashed her partner Hyrox Sim in the glorious sunshine 💪🏽
Park Run… Nigel Herbert took to Ponty to give out tons of enthusiasm. Leslie Loader, Darren (after completing a trail run) and Mike stayed local and ran some excellent times around Penallta 👏🏽 👏🏽 Cath Edw cannot stop smashing her PRs, this time completed at Mount Edgcumbe 🤩
Ang, Vicki, Liz, Alyson and Sue had a lovely morning run with the usual debate about who’s watch distance was correct 🌞
Jordan Morris and Natasha Bishop jogged in the evening sun and put the world to rights.
SUNDAAAAAAAAAY - Caerphilly 10K
The leaning tower of Caerphilly leans more than Pisa… still not as much as the runners after all those hills!!!
A huge congratulations to all of our Ystrad Runners who smashed their goals and PBs. You were outstanding and a privilege to watch and ‘woop’ for. Evan, Leslie, Kieran Loughlin, Ches, Wayne and Cheryl 🏅
Jordan began her training for Sierra Nevada by climbing the Sleeping giant and Henrhyd falls. Breath taking views ⛰️
All these updates and I’m ready for carb loading and a lie down.
Amazing as always YR 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Well in all the excitement of the weekend we managed to miss out a few events.
So here we go
On Thursday evening Amy Bevan Sam, Ann and Michelle Louise Taylor decided they needed to run to England and back again before it got dark.
The Severn bridge twilight run did not disappoint and the sunset was glorious.
On Saturday Sam, Amy along with the kids and Amy's husband took part in the St David's hospice colour dash at Tredegar park. Looks like they had a great time and the sunshine was out in full force for them as well.

It’s a long one, sit tight!
What an awesome week we have had at Ystrad Runners
First there was parkrun…
We had Nigel & Jordan linking up with the local health board, Aneurin Bevan Health board at Newport, Darren completed Riverfront (rather a short distance for ultra runner Darren, but he still bagged himself a PB), Steve took part in parkrun across two countries, aka Severn Bridge 🏴 🏴, Hannah, Kieran and the 2 junior Loughlins went to Cwmbran with both Leslie and Mike staying closer to home and going to Penallta..
Away from parkrun on Saturday we had Jen tackling the trails (for a long run), and Liz, Cherril, Wayne, Vicky and Alyson took to the local trails…
Not content with a parkrun this week, our chief race commentator and dot watcher, Luke took on the Phoenix running south wales series and smashed out 53k (that’s nearly 33 miles for us that work in miles)… WOW!
Moving to Sunday, not taking away the sub 2 hours by the winner (which was amazing in its own right!), we had our own champions in the big smoke…
Keeping Luke in a job by tracking everyone, we had…
Louisa, who can usually be found completing a trail ultra), taking on the London Marathon for the second time in TWENTY SEVEN years…
We had Rob D running for Cynon Valley Pals, a charity close to his heart… Robs highlight of the day was overtaking Daddy Pig!
We then had Natasha running for the clubs charity of the year, Velindre, Tash should have run last year but a thing called a baby got in the way.
Ystrad runners you do us all proud, you are all amazing, whether you took part in the any of the above or you simply cheered everyone on! Thank you!
