Called in at lunch-time with hubbie today, craving soup. No soup!! ๐Ÿ˜ช. Seeing our disappointment, the lovely ladies said that if we weren't pushed for time, they would prepare some just for us ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜œ. [08/05/21]   Hello to all you lovely customers, it has been a while and I hope you are all well and finding some sort of new normal after the last 18months or so.

As some of you already know I have returned to my previous cafe. The financial pressure and restrictions during lockdown made it impossible for me to continue. You can now find me at Anna's Kitchen, Shedfield Equestrian Centre, Shedfield, SO322HN. It has been lovely to see and catch up with those that have already visited.

The Shack will be re-opening with the beautiful Jo-Ann Carey Nutrition4life in the coming weeks. Jo has many plans and delicious delights in store for you. You can follow Jo on FB The Love SHACK Eatery and holistic well being therapies

The Health Shack Therapies will continue, myself, Ashleigh & Tasha are still available for treatments. Please message me via this page or contact the others directly. I will still be offering supplements and skincare so please let me know if you wish to order any products.

It can be really confusing knowing which vitamins you need when youโ€™re vegan. There is also a lot of misinformation out there telling us that we will not be getting enough of the vitamins we need if we are eating a plant-based diet.

Well, here is the great news - eating a healthy balanced and varied plant-based diet will mean you are getting the vast majority of the vitamins you need (with the definite exception of vitamin B12).

However, in order to achieve this you should make sure you are aware of the below, which can be difficult to source from plant foods. It's important for you to know what they are and whether you should be taking supplements for them.

What does it do๐ŸŒฑ
Important for a healthy nervous system, bodily processes, and creation of oxygen-transporting red blood cells. It helps to make your DNA, keep your cells healthy, and release energy from food.

What are good vegan sources?

โ— Vegan foods fortified with B12 (some plant milks, soy products and breakfast cereals)
โ— Vitamin B12 supplements

Recommended amount per day:

0.0015mg

What you should know:

Lack of vitamin B12 causes vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia, which makes people weak and tired.

#ADRENALFATIGUE and #INSOMNIA occurs when the adrenal glands donโ€™t make enough of the hormone cortisol.

You have two adrenal glands. They are located just above the kidneys. They work with the hypothalamus and pituitary glands in the brain.

Cortisol helps break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in your body. It also controls blood pressure and affects how your immune system works.

Adrenal insufficiency can be primary or secondary:

#PRIMARYADRENALINSUFFICIENCY

This is known as #ADDISONSDISEASE It occurs when the adrenal glands are damaged. They donโ€™t make enough of the hormones cortisol and aldosterone. This condition is rare.

#SECONDARYADRENALINSUFFICIENCY This starts when the pituitary gland doesnโ€™t make enough of the hormone ACTH (adrenocorticotropin). As a result the adrenal glands donโ€™t make enough cortisol.

What causes adrenal insufficiency? ๐Ÿ•‰

Primary adrenal insufficiency is most often caused when your immune system attacks your healthy adrenal glands by mistake. Other causes may include:

Cancer

Fungal infections

Tuberculosis infection of the adrenal glands

Inherited disorders of the endocrine glands

Leaky gut syndrome

Auto immunity

A lack of the hormone ACTH leads to secondary adrenal insufficiency. That can happen if you must take certain steroids for a long time due to a health problem

Bluish-black color around the ni***es, mouth, re**um, sc***um, or va**na (Addison's disease only)

Weight loss

Fluid loss (dehydration)

Lack of appetite

Muscle aches

Upset stomach (nausea)
