Exeter Life Drawing

Our first Four Hour Friday is only a couple of days away!!

I've been getting lots of questions, so here is a FAQ for you:

- We will at our usual venue of the Cygnet Theatre. On street parking is paid for and limited during the daytime, so be prepared for this, I advise one of the nearby city center car parks (Magdalen Street, Cathedral and Quay Multistory)

- There will be slightly fewer artists at this session, with a max of 18 artists (it's usually 23)

- Easels welcome. We have three to loan out, so safest to bring your own. Unfortunately the tables at the theatre will be in use, so a small table set up/stools would also be a great idea.

- Paint welcome but we MUST protect the floor, so please bring your own floor covering if you're planning to paint (rug, paint mat, newspaper, plastic sheet, anything that will fully protect your floor space from any paint)

- There will be one hour of warm-up poses (1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, etc) followed by a three hour pose. There will be breaks within the three hours, including a lunchbreak.

- Please bring your own lunch (or there are places on the quayside you can pop out to. Or you could go hungry. But lunch is not provided 😄)

- Tea, coffee and biscuits provided!

- Annabella Twort Model will be our model

Now, this week we have TWO sessions for you!

👉 Our usual Thursday evening class on October 1st, from 7-9pm. This week we are in Exeter Community Centre. Please repeat that to yourself until you get to the correct venue: EXETER👏 COMMUNITY 👏CENTRE👏 In the Magdalen Room. This class is with Jósef and currently has two spots available 👀

👉 Then we have our first Four Hour Friday session this Friday October 2nd! This is at our usual venue of the Cygnet Theatre 👍 from 10am-2pm and we still have a few spots left. The wonderful Annabella Twort Model is modelling. Separate story/post coming answering all your questions about this!

Our usual Thursday evening class is BACK tomorrow night at the Cygnet Theatre! I am away, but the wonderful Lindsey Joanne Bauer will be hosting the class in my absence - you'll be in wonderful, safe and sparkly hands and you can expect the usual two hours of drawing joy 🥰

I'm always asked when the next Beginners Taught Session is... Well, we have one coming up on September 17th with plenty of space available!

Have you always wondered what life drawing is all about? A bit nervous to try? No idea how to draw anything?! Haven't done it for 100 years and need a refresher?

Come along to our Beginners Session and let me help you 🤗

We create a relaxed, fun, friendly environment where we remove the fear of putting marks on the paper and celebrate every line - wonky or smudgy or timid or otherwise!

We explore some techniques to help with quick gestural sketches, and how to measure and plan and draw longer, more involved poses.

All materials are supplied.

We also eat biscuits and drink tea.

What more can I say? 🤷‍♀️ It's fab!

A rare digital artwork created at one of our recent classes.

I personally love using the sessions to work with traditional, physical artwork mediums, but in this case I was trapped near the door without my sketchbook, but holding my iPad, so... drawing is drawing, whatever you use!

A chance to sink into a longer class! Thrilled to say we have the wonderful Annabella Twort Model modelling for the first one of these which will be October 2nd (plenty of notice to book the day off work 😂)

Testing the waters with this one, but very much hoping to make it a monthly class 🤞
