What are your thoughts on the proposed Building Regulations amendment ‘Part Z’ and Approved Document Z outline requirements on the assessment of whole life carbon emissions and limiting of embodied carbon emissions, for all major building projects. The proposal introduces mandatory assessments ahead of setting carbon limits.
Once accepted it would rapidly accelerate the voluntary action occurring across our industry, leading to green investment and green jobs creation across construction. And quite possibly putting more financial pressure on end user?
On 02 February 2022, Conservative MP Duncan Baker is putting forward a ten-minute rule motion on the regulation of embodied carbon emissions in Parliament.

Funding of up to €250,000 is on offer, with the hope that new ideas regarding structural timber will emerge: buff.ly/3w5JlzQ

Would you ever consider living in Timber house? We believe it’s eco-friendly, sustainable homes for the future that are energy efficient and safe.
Building with timber sourced from well managed forests is an environmentally-friendly choice; it is renewable and helps to create an air-tight structure.

News from WPA
Transition from CE to CA for marking treated wood products
Official source @ wood protection association
New rules apply due to Brexit
WPA Guide to Marking Treated Wood-1.jpg
Marking of construction products (those and only those covered by a harmonised European standard) became mandatory in the EU on 1 July 2013 under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
From the end of the Brexit transition period (31 December 2020) new rules apply in the UK outside of N. Ireland and separately in N. Ireland.
The new rules, covering the changes to marking, Declaration of Performance (DoP) and notified (EU)/approved (UK) bodies, are explained in the Timber Trade Federation publication TTF UKCA Guide.
The government announced on 24 August 2021 that businesses will have an extra year to start using UKCA marking – the new date from when UKCA marking becomes obligatory is now 1 January 2023, although the UKCA mark could be used in GB from 1 January 2021.
