Very sad to say farewell to our dear friend and NODA past President, Bert Lumsden today. We were so privileged to know you.
A wonderful afternoon escorting the President to Budleigh Salterton. We laughed and laughed. The cast enjoyed meeting Christine and chatting to her. Thanks once again to Salterton Players for most enjoyable visit t your lovely theatre
I’m delighted to report that my production of “Murdered to Death” at the Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth is receiving lots of laughter. Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society will be pleased to welcome you any evening until Saturday if you’re down our way
Just returned from a lovely evening with Exeter Musical Society and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. So hard not to join in! Atmospheric lighting enhanced the simple set and thoughtful cast. All accompanied by a super band. Well worth a visit to the Northcott Theatre if you have time this week
The Immediate Past President was honoured to have his photo taken with the director and cast of Exmouth Players production of thee much acclaimed play “Rotterdam”. The sparkling dialogue was delivered brilliantly raising much laughter and demanding sympathy from the audience. A wonderful love story told so naturally. On the extreme left of the photo is the signer who superbly caught the mood of each scene. The performances continue until Saturday and a trip to the Blackmore Theatre, Exmouth is recommended
Congratulations and thanks to the youngsters of Centre Stage, Exmouth and present & past members of EMCo for their contribution to the magnificent send-off for our dearly “Auntie” Lynne. Along with the marvellous band of musicians (such lovely arrangements) they gave the celebration of Lynne’s life a real lift. Lynne did so much for so many but also found time to work for NODA for many years as a local rep and as secretary to the national committee members. It was a tremendous and well deserved send off completed with a recording of her singing “Queen of Night”. As the speaker so rightly said the proof of her legacy was in the varied congregation many of who were inspired and taught by her. A great loss to music in the South West and NODA. Thanks to the National Vice President for attending to show NODA’s appreciation
A great send-off!
To all you wonderful NODA followers I send best wishes for a happy and contented Christmas

We were proud of him then. A true leading man. But now another trip to London is in order as Tobias moves on to greater things. A very proud Ex President.
The St David’s Players were honoured by the presence last night of the Lord Mayor of Exeter and the President of NODA at the performance of “The Sorcerer” at the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter. They were both enthusiastic to meet with the cast after the performance. Apparently they loved the singing and had laughed a lot. What more could we ask? Still some seats available until Saturday
Cannot believe the news of the passing of Janet Elworthy SW Rep and recent recipient of NODA life membership. A friend and colleague since the eighties. She’s left a big hole in local theatre. Totally at sixes and sevens. Enjoy your rest after a life time of service to others
It was my great honour to present long service medals after Axminster Musical Theatre’s amazing performance of “Jekyll & Hyde”. To Richard Roderigo, who took part in the production, celebration of sixty years and to the hard working powerhouse Rose Harvey, fifty years. Congratulations to both - still giving to amateur theatre!
The sun was beating down, although the wind was doing its best to move us on. Joyce & I had the pleasure of planting Past President Gordon’s Shetland stone on the memory cairn on the beach at Budleigh Salterton, Devon. Pictures are not brilliant because the sun was so bright we could only see our reflections in the camera. Very moving to be among all the memorials with the Calendar Girls of Shetland. My last act as your President. I now hand this site over to President Christine. It’s been a privilege.
Award winning St David’s Players are approaching their next appearance at the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter with the charmingly funny “The Sorcerer”. Wonderful melodies, live orchestra, country dancing and magic all rolled into one! Simple tipsy turbo entertainment for all the family. Meet the new President of NODA on the Wednesday evening. Make it a date!
And we’re on our way as we accompany the Vice President back to Devon after his installation at Preston
