On both occasions we had packed houses and a great audience reaction. Can’t wait to get back there this October with :

Having sold out when it toured the North last year, tickets are on sale now for Elysium Theatre Company and Queen's Hall Arts, Hexham co-production Reiver: Tales From The Border.

Promising an evening of theatre you will never forget, Northumberland writer Steve Byron weaves three tales of ordinary people caught up in the Reivers' web as a farmer, lawman and a young woman take a stand against the lawless families' murderous ways.

Will good triumph over evil or will evil win the day?

A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Assembly Rooms, Durham | The Crack Magazine 24/08/2023

Late review for :

“Daniel Bradford’s interpretation at Durham’s Assembly Rooms did not disappoint. Against a lush backdrop of vines, it was not only a visual evergreen treat, but a comical one too… If you’re looking for a lively watch with a dash of magic, this is the one.”

A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Assembly Rooms, Durham | The Crack Magazine A Midsummer Night’s Dream is arguably Shakespeare’s most entertaining plays – a far cry from some of his other dark and tragic plays, it offers a little bit of fun for the audience in a mystical setting they’re not quite familiar with. Daniel Bradford’s i

Macbeth at The Assembly Rooms | The Crack Magazine 24/08/2023

Another late review for :

“It can be easy for a play like Macbeth, where characters such as Macbeth (Danny Solomon ) and Lady Macbeth’s (Hannah Ellis Ryan) personas change so quickly, to make it seem rushed, or lazily done but this was not the case with Jake Murray’s production, much to the casts’ merit. Overall, it was a delicious watch of unfolding madness, and an enjoyable reacquaintance to Shakespeare.”

Macbeth at The Assembly Rooms | The Crack Magazine Having not interacted with any of Shakespeare’s plays since school, I was half expecting to go to the opening night of Macbeth at Durham’s Assembly Rooms and be haunted with the same confusion I felt trying to translate his words in a grey classroom back

Stage Review: Macbeth at The Assembly Rooms, Durham – 15/07/2023 24/08/2023

A late review for :

“The pairing of Danny Solomon as Macbeth and Hannah Ellis Ryan as Lady Macbeth was perfect. Their charisma shone as their lust for power ultimately leads to their demise. The simple staging allowed the spotlight to be on the cast – and rightly so. Effective lighting and sound added to the drama and tension. A shout-out must go to the movement and choreography team too as the sword fights were thrilling, as the sound of metal on metal echoed throughout the theatre.”

Stage Review: Macbeth at The Assembly Rooms, Durham – 15/07/2023 From the moment the three witches step on stage for the opening scene, clad in full-length black leather coats, the drama that is Macbeth unfolds before the audience. Elysium Theatre Company are pr…
