Production and Creative Team Applications – Angels in America by Tony Kushner

Pitch presents Angels in America by Tony Kushner. We are looking to perform the play in June 2023.

1985. America sickens. On one side of New York City, Prior Walter begins dreaming of an angel after being diagnosed with AIDS. His boyfriend Louis leaves, but his best friend Belize stays. On the other side, Joe Pitt tries to convince his agoraphobic wife Harper that moving away is the thing to do. His boss, infamous lawyer Roy Cohn, clings to power and prescience as his own strength slips. Very little seems to connect these people teetering on the edge of seismic change, and yet an angel descends and declares that it is time the great work began. No-one will be spared. What is divine intervention to the human urge to endure? What is heartbreak to the unshakeable humour of existence? Across two halves of one story, Prior and the rest of America wrestle with past, present, and future to assert their right to go on, in spite of everything.

📣 Show Announcement- LOBBY by Freya Williams

Pitch presents Lobby, a new play by Freya Williams to be performed in the Assembly Rooms Week 7 of Michealmas Term on the 17th ,18th ,19th November.

As allegations of illegal lobbying and cross-party affairs blight a government, one MP is tasked with placating the press. She’s cut-throat and well-versed in the art of evading the traps of their interview tactics. That is until the Howe papers are referenced.

The contents of the papers are placed under the spotlight as we shift to the club’s lobby. As the interactions between staff, MPs, businesspeople, and journalists play out, questions arise as to the extent to which the past informs the present, and where ethical lines are drawn.
