We are so excited to announce that we will be hosting a SEND Prom on FRIDAY 7TH AUGUST at Sunnyhill Community Centre (firmly back in the heart of where it all began!).
This event is being held to allow school leavers with SEND needs to experience a Prom, which has now become a rite of passage for some many young people. Emma and the team are passionate about ensuring children and young people with SEND needs get to experience all the things their counterparts do. Emma has 3 children with SEND needs and has fiercely fought for their right to an education, but also a right to access the additional support they need and deserve.
This event is open to young people who will be leaving school or the equivalent within a specialist provision this summer. We understand that SEND individuals can become overwhelmed with large groups of people and loud noises, so we are hosting this event for up to 30 individuals and we will try our best to make it a comfortable, enjoyable and memorable experience.
This event is completely FREE for attendees and parents and guardians are welcome to stay to provide any background support to their child/children. So, if you would like your child/children to attend then please message our inbox. Please DO NOT leave a comment on the post about wanting to attend as we will need the following information from you:
● The individual(s) attending and their full name
● Any dietary requirements and any allergies we should be aware of. This is a necessary requirement.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first-served basis. The event is scheduled between 4pm and 7pm and this is to take into consideration aspects of attendees feeling overwhelmed and tired.
We must have expressions of attendance by FRIDAY 31ST JULY, so that we are able to finalise numbers.
We would like to extend our thanks to all the people who have offered to support, especially those providing the venue and individuals who have offered to cater for us. However, we are still in need of:
● DJ and entertainment
● Décor i.e. banners, balloons and balloons arch
● Any business that may provide other event features such as candy cart, candy floss or popcorn stand.
If you feel there is anything else we may need or would help the event to be memorable then all suggestions are welcome.
If any local business wish to donate their services to the event it will be greatly appreciated.
We hope to see you on Friday 7th August!
Lots of Love,
Emma and The Team # # # 🥰🥰🥰

Date for your diary - Derby Silk Mill Festival 2026 🚩
Derby's annual Silk Mill Festival - including a march and rally - will be taking place on Saturday 20th June ✊
The march will begin to assemble from 10am at the Market Place - before setting off at 11am and ending at the Cathedral Green, where speeches and live music will take place, and you'll have the chance to visit trade union and community stalls.
The festival takes place to commemorate the historic Silk Mill lockout of 1833/34, when hundreds of workers were locked out over a dispute for better conditions and trade union rights.
Join us for a great day of commemoration, with the march, speeches, stalls, live music, and food and drink!
Get in touch at [email protected] to book a stall, make a donation from your union branch or community group, or ask any questions!
