What is your favorite number in the show?

I really like the sound of 'Connie's song'. But I have to be a touch biased and say 'Sorry I love you', it's a playful number with lots of energy.

Tell us a bit about your character:

Eddie is the husband of the leading lady Rita O'Grady.
Eddie is a bit goofy, very forgetful and useless with an iron. However I feel Eddie tries to be a "modern" man of the times compared to the other male characters in the show.

Tell us a bit about your first car:

Haha well my first car treat me well and lasted for about 2 years.
A blue Vauxhall Agila which I named Betty.

When you are not performing what do you do?

When I'm not performing I'm playing basketball for my local rec team 'Teesside Lions' and spending time with my dear wife Susy ❤️

Why should people come and see the show?

This show has amazing musical numbers funny and tear-jerking, a lot of lines to giggle at and a bunch of strong women leading the way.

What is your favorite number in the show?

My favourite number has to be “Everybody Out”because it is a pivotal moment when the female workers at Ford decide to strike. It shows their unity, determination and strength to push back against the gender inequality that they are forced to live with.

Tell us a bit about your character:

Eddie O’Grady is the husband to Rita O’Grady (The leader of the strike). Eddie struggles with Rita’s tenacity and can’t comprehend the importance of her fight for equal pay but throughout the show, he shows that his love of Rita and genuine desire to do what is right is much more important to him in the long run. It’s a challenging character to perform but a thoroughly enjoyable journey to bring to life!

Tell us a bit about your first car:
This is… awkward… I don’t drive 😅

When you are not performing what do you do?

I’m a full time Primary School Teacher so having the opportunity to perform with Darlington Operatic Society is a blessing to allow me escape from the world of work and enjoy one of my biggest passions!

Why should people come and see the show?

The show not only has incredible music, engaging performances and plenty of hilarious moments but is also a crucial part of British history. Remembering those that came before us, who fought for human rights is really important! This show is a wonderful homage to their hard work but also a wonderful night out with music that you’ll be singing in the shower for weeks after!

What is your favorite number in the show? Stand up! It’s empowering and my favourite to sing.

Tell us a bit about your character: Beryl is down to earth, loyal, has no filter and as a result swears a lot.

Tell us a bit about your first car: My first car was a grey Vauxhall Nova handed down by Mum and Dad. I loved it. The week after I passed my test I drove it to Milton Keynes to see Take That.

When you are not performing what do you do?
I work most of the time, have a little candle business on the side, go for dog walks and hang out with friends

A true story that paved the way for equality in the workplace for women. Name: Neil Harland

Character: Harold Wilson

What is your favorite number in the show?
I’d probably give you a different answer from one day to the next. There are several great numbers ranging emotionally from poignant to hilarious or heartbreaking to joyous. I really like “Storm Clouds”. It’s musically clever and advances the plot considerably.

Tell us a bit about your character: Like most politicians the real-life Harold Wilson divided opinion. Our version of him is an extremely funny parody of a traditional Labour man wrestling with the reality of trying to balance the books without upsetting the unions. His relationship with Barbara Castle is hilarious.

Tell us a bit about your first car: I inherited an ancient Nova shortly after passing my test, but the first car I bought myself was a three door Corsa with a year’s free insurance deal.

When you are not performing what do you do? I love to be out walking in nature with family and friends. Workwise I’m excited to be starting my new career as a trainee train driver at the start of October.

Why should people come and see the show? Our exceptional production team have assembled some fabulous performers to tell you the important story of the brave women of Ford Dagenham and their heroic actions that led us to the Equal Pay Act 1970. It’s full of brilliant characters and will be a great night of theatre.

Name: Sasha Gibbs

Character: Cass

What is your favourite number in the show?
Everybody Out- I feel like this song is so inspiring and true female empowerment at its best! You can’t help but be lifted by this song and want everybody out, join the cause and make a stand at the strike.

Tell us a bit about your character: Cass feels very stuck in the factory, but the women she works with are her great friends! Cass is a very intelligent woman and has such big dreams of becoming an airline pilot. However being the 60s the odds are against her as not only is she a woman, she is also black. With this she has another hurdle than the other women to overcome to be able to be seen as equal.

Tell us a bit about your first car: My first car was a red Nissan micra, which I got for my 18th birthday. It was so fun and so cool to have my very own car.

When you are not performing what do you do?
When I’m not performing with DarlingtonOS, I run an embroidery and atelier business. I love being creative, designing and the process of making something unique. I also love spending time with my family as we welcomed our baby boy last year.

Why should people come and see the show?
This show tells a story of history for women in the U.K. It wasn’t so long ago that that life as we know today in a work place was very different. Made in Dagenham will leave you laughing like you have never laughed before, very emotional at times and truly inspired to stand for what you believe in!

What is your favorite number in the show?
Totally bias… “This is America”.

Tell us a bit about your character: All 3 characters are representative of loathsome misogyny and inappropriate behaviour, particularly in the work place. However, they are integral to the telling of the story and in turn the huge achievement of the Dagenham ladies, who helped shape the future of workers rights.

Tell us a bit about your first car:
A blue Volkswagen Beetle, I loved it! My Grandad repaired and rebuilt sections of it… and I spayed it by hand with cans of Hammerite paint ( smooth finish)

When you are not performing what do you do?
Walking, yoga/ Pilates and DIY.

Why should people come and see the show?
Set aside the historical events that shaped the workplace… the story is told with humour, passion with an uplifting musical score, opening a window on a specific period in time… warts and all!

What is your favorite number in the show?
The letter, I first heard that song when one of our Eddie’s sang it in a workshop and I just fell in love with it (and him singing it!)

Tell us a bit about your character:
I think Clare can come across very d***y and a bit air-headed but don’t judge her too quick. She’s a supportive champion of the movement and her friends - she even wants to lead the girls but she can’t quite find the words!

Tell us a bit about your first car:
Still very sad about losing my first amazing car but after it broke down on the A66 fast lane I thought it was time. She was a Clio called Patra… Clio-patra…get it?

When you are not performing what do you do?
I’m currently training for the Great North Run (think I’m crazy) and love spending time with family and friends!

Why should people come and see the show?
This show is such a poignant message about equality, discrimination and standing together through times of hardship, and unfortunately it’s still all too relevant. We hope we do the story and the real women who fought for the equality we have today justice!

Name: Eddie Taylor-Jones

Character: Jeremy Hopkins

What is your favorite number in the show?
"Everybody Out!" captures the moment when the girls first take a stand for what they believe in, and you can see the momentum and solidarity grow throughout the number.

Tell us a bit about your character:
Jeremy Hopkins, the Managing Director of Ford UK, comes from a privileged background, having been educated at a public school and university. As a member of the middle class, he stands out from the other characters in the musical. Despite being well-meaning, he is somewhat clueless, especially when it comes to negotiating with the striking women at the Ford Dagenham plant. He is out of touch with the struggles and demands of the women, including his wife Lisa, whom he often takes for granted.

Tell us a bit about your first car:
My Nan brought me a racing green Peugeot 205, limited edition Rowland Garros. It had cream leather seats with red seatbelts a sunroof and electric windows. It was a great car that served me well. It was just a bit scary going round corners when the manual choke would get stuck!

When you are not performing what do you do? I’m the Head of Drama at a local secondary school and sixth form. So if I’m not performing, I’m either teaching it, directing it or watching it!

Why should people come and see the show?
The universal message in this show is about empowering people to stand up for what is right! It’s a phenomenal true story set to a swinging 60s beat! I can guarantee every audience member will leave feeling inspired and uplifted… ready to make a change!
