Engineering in a green economy!
Mike Nicholls was reading an interesting blog from last year about how the green economy is impacting engineering within the UK. He feels many of the points in this year-old article are still very much relevant today.
From experience I can see the impact on engineering as a whole and in terms of recruitment the demand for these professionals is still rocketing. Also, as technology advances within our sectors their skill sets will only increase making them an even more integral part of waste, recycling, power and more. I just hope that more and more young people will consider delving into these important sectors otherwise what’s sometime called “the old guard” will soon fade away.

How the Green Economy Is Impacting Engineering in the UK The UK government has ambitious plans to build a greener economy and achieve net zero by 2050. Engineers play an important role in achieving this mission, and we can already see the rise of green engineering jobs, as well as the increasing demand for green skills within this occupation. But what exa...

SearchTech travelled to the Solar & Storage Live at the NEC Birmingham last week.
Sally Woods and Charles Cocklin met with some old contacts and new businesses in the renewable energy sector. There has been a definite increase in the need for Land and Planning managers across the board in the renewables sectors from consultancies to developers and owner-operators, there has also been a strong indication that a significant amount of companies are also searching for grid engineers due to the increase in projects requiring connecting to the grid.
With over 10 years of experience recruiting in the renewable energy sector, SearchTech can offer an experienced service and a level of professionalism to both clients and candidates.
If you are looking for new opportunities or new staff, please do get in touch with Sally or anyone at SearchTech.

Lester Lockyer has been Inspired by the recent election debate in the US. 🌎
Please let us know your thoughts! 🤔
Is it really time to dispense with the details?
I’ve stumbled across a radical new approach to client pitches.
Ahead of a client meeting, to pitch SearchTech’s services for a retained search, I was as nervous as a dog in Springfield. We were to be discussing a complex role requiring highly specialised skills and would need to be at our best to get our message across and reassure the client.
When asked how we would go about the assignment and why they should appoint us, I dispensed with the usual evidence-based approach with explainers on process, track record & capability including graphs, diagrams and data points.
Instead borrowing from the US Presidential debate, I pronounced that we “had the concepts of a plan” that would be “something that’s better” (than they’ve seen before.)
The client loved it and immediately appointed us at their elected retained recruiter.
Seems sometimes you can get into the weeds too much ! K.I.S.S
Are you a fan of dispensing with detail in favour of the vogue for vague?
Do you think the approach to detailed discourse could work for your business if its good enough for the political landscape of the world’s largest economy?
PS: If you’re looking for recruitment support across Renewables, Waste and Sustainability – “We’re the best”.
