💪 Strength Test: Can You Pass the 90% Rule? 🦵
Before returning to sport after a knee injury, your injured leg should be at least 90% as strong as your uninjured leg. ✅
Why it matters:
✔️ Reduces risk of re-injury
✔️ Ensures your knee can handle the load
✔️ Builds confidence in your movement
How to check:
✔️ Single-leg press
✔️ Squats
✔️ Hop tests
Not there yet? No worries — focus on strength, balance, and mobility, and retest! 🏋️
💡 Strong leg, strong comeback!

🦵 “Do I need surgery?"
It’s one of the first questions people ask after an ACL injury. The truth is—not all ACL tears are the same.
👉 Some people return to full activity with physiotherapy alone.
👉 Others may need surgery, especially if they want to get back to pivot-heavy sports.
Your decision depends on:
✨ The severity of your tear
✨ Your activity level & lifestyle goals
✨ How your knee responds to rehab
At our clinic, we often take a rehab-first approach—helping you build strength, regain stability, and truly test how your knee performs before surgery is considered.
💬 You don’t have to make the decision alone. A thorough physio assessment can give you clarity and confidence in your recovery path.

🦵 PREHAB: What to Do Before ACL Surgery 🦵
The work starts before surgery! 💪
If you’ve torn your ACL and surgery is on the horizon, your recovery journey actually starts now. Prehab (pre-surgery rehab) can make a huge difference in your results.
Here's what to focus on:
✅ Strengthen the muscles around your knee
✅ Improve your range of motion
✅ Reduce swelling and inflammation
✅ Work on your balance and control
✅ Mentally prepare for surgery & recovery
Why Prehab Matters:
Research shows that going into surgery stronger, more mobile, and more confident can lead to better outcomes and faster recovery. 🙌

One of the most common (and most important) questions after ACL reconstruction is “When can I play again?” 💭
👉 The short answer? It depends — but usually between 9-12 months post-surgery.
Here’s why timing matters:
✅ Your new ACL graft needs time to fully heal
✅ Muscle strength & control must be rebuilt
✅ You need to pass functional tests to reduce re-injury risk
🔑 What needs to happen before returning to sport?
✔️ Near-complete strength in your quads & hamstrings
✔️ Good single-leg balance & control
✔️ Confidence with cutting, pivoting & landing
✔️ Clearance from your surgeon & physio
✔️ Passing specific return-to-sport tests (often at 9+ months)
💡 Fun Fact: Research shows returning to sport too early can DOUBLE your risk of re-injury. Be patient — your future performance depends on proper recovery! 🙌
Remember: It’s not just about time — it’s about meeting milestones. Work closely with your rehab team to know when you’re truly ready.
