Lovingly Bound

Remember the gel press botanical prints I did on Thetis Island from a friend’s native shoreline meadow? They have become the latest Artists Trading Cards on the word prompt: Country and its Colours. Canada, red and white, BC wildflowers. They have been sent to the organiser and it will be interesting to see which countries the other participants chose. ❤️

Was in a good place and made some art inspired by the coastal wildflower meadows and beach-combing finds on Thetis Island.

Learning this gellipress monoprint technique is lots of fun… and an excuse to experiment (because I am one of those who needs to know the rules first so I can break them 😂). What I am enjoying the most is mixing various bits of my creative process, including papercutting, photography and figuring out how to make something cool again when I’ve made a massive mistake right at the beginning… In this series:

1. One for Sorrow (using a portrait of my mum when she was evacuated in 1939)
2. Silver Anniversary (for one of the RNLI volunteers who was married in 1966)
3. Full Moon Magic (stamp, shapes and ephemera)
4. Idris & Telyn (image transfer, acrylic and ink with collage…work in progress)

Playing around with gelli press layers and getting ready for the Strata Florida craft fair / ffair Ystryd Fflur at the end of May.
