It's Mental Health Awareness Week ๐ (11โ17 May) and this year's theme is Action.
Real change happens when we take steps, however small โ reaching out to a friend, going for a walk, or asking for support.
What's one small action you'll take this week?

Common myth: CBT is just about "thinking positive." ๐
โโ๏ธ
Actually, CBT is about thinking accurately โ not pretending everything is fine, but learning to challenge thoughts that aren't based on facts.
For example, a thought like "I always mess things up" might feel completely true in the moment. CBT teaches you to pause and ask: is there real evidence for that? Are there other ways to look at this situation?
That small shift can make a huge difference over time.
CBT is one of the most researched therapies in the world โ and we offer it at Mind Store in Aberdeen.

Have you heard of EMDR? ๐
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing โ or EMDR โ is a therapy that can help people who are struggling with trauma, PTSD, or distressing memories that just won't shift.
When we go through something difficult, our brain doesn't always get the chance to process it properly. That memory can stay "stuck" โ feeling just as raw and overwhelming as the day it happened, even years later.
EMDR uses gentle guided eye movements to help the brain finally do that processing, so the memory gradually loses its emotional intensity. It doesn't erase what happened โ but it can take away the pain that keeps coming back.
It's recommended by the NHS and the World Health Organization, and it's one of the therapies we offer here at Mind Store.
If you or someone you know might benefit, send us a message on Facebook.

If everything feels like too much right now, it doesnโt mean youโre failing ๐ค
When life feels overwhelming, itโs easy to turn that pressure inward. But overwhelm isnโt a personal flaw. Itโs often a sign that youโve been carrying a lot.
Selfโcompassion doesnโt mean fixing everything or coping better. Sometimes itโs just noticing that things are hard and allowing yourself a little patience.
โจ Even small moments of kindness towards yourself can help things feel slightly lighter.
A gentle pause:
