Have you notice how we always start everything on Monday? Diet - I’ll start from Monday. Exercise - I’ll start from Monday. Studying, less drinking, any new regime, we always put it off until the new week comes.
Why? I don’t know……..
Maybe it is something to do with letting go or having a start point. I am not sure.

However, today IS Monday so why not start something new? Something for your mental health, for example be nice to yourself by giving yourself a complement, treat yourself as you would treat your best friend or make time for yourself and then do all these regularly. This could be a start of a great friendship.

A thought provoking quote, as I like to think that this can apply both ways.
However, the thing is that we all put ourselves under pressure which arises quite often from feeling guilty. And we all have something to feel guilty about. I am not talking about breaking the law but about the expectations that we place upon ourselves, as well as the expectation placed upon us by the rest of the society and society norms.

Self-criticism, urgh, we all do it, some more than others! Yet, for a lot of us, we rarely give ourselves credit or compassion when it comes to the ways in which we think about ourselves.

When was the last time you gave yourself credit or even acknowledged something good about you, or what you have achieved.
Doesn’t matter how big or small.

So today, spend some time thinking about your strengths and qualities? I know you have lots, ask others if you get stuck.
Start with I am, and go from there…

Example
I am compassionate.
I am good at…..
I am strong.

You get the picture……

We all suffer from sleepless nights at times. It can be caused by a busy, stressful day or lots to do the next day, or something more serious such as anxiety or depression. Excitement isn’t helpful either.

Also, it is not just difficulty with falling asleep. For some of us, it is the waking in the middle of the night which breaks the pattern and awakens all the unwanted thoughts, or we find ourselves going through the next day “to do list”. Lying and tossing fruitlessly just to discover that it is almost time to get up when we are finally drifting off!

We all are unique and therefore we have our own unique ways to deal with problems, but some things can be helped in the same ways. See below for some helpful tips on how to help yourself to have a better sleeping pattern. Not getting enough sleep for a long period of time can lead to serious health problems, so seek help of a professional if the sleepless nights happen too frequently.

Do you know how to recognise if you are feeling stress? Do you feel constantly tired? Can't sleep properly? Are you feeling overwhelmed and are you easily irritable? Do you find yourself with so many things to do, yet, you cannot focus of finishing even one of them?

Sadly, some of us will have lost a loved one or a friend to su***de. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. I am thinking of you all today. 💕
Please always talk to someone about how you are feeling.

Today is ‘World Su***de Prevention day’. Statistics show that in the UK in 2019, “6,524 people took their own lives.
Men are three times more likely than women to die by su***de. Men aged 45-49 and women aged 50-54 have the highest su***de rates” (mentalhealth.org).

In Scotland 2020, 805 su***des were registered in Scotland. Men accounted for 71% of su***des in 2020.
The su***de rate in Scotland's most deprived areas is three times the rate in wealthy areas.

Su***de is the fourth leading cause of death amongst 15 to 29 year olds globally.

Try to always check in with your friends and family. Ask how they are feeling?
Are they really OK, can you do anything to help. Just being there and listening will help.

Often, we may not make the connection between our emotions and trauma, this may be because the experiences occurred in our childhood or adolescence, we may have disconnected and buried these memories in our unconscious. We may well become distant and often get lost in who we are and where we are!.
