There are artists who impress you... and then there are artists who quietly reshape the way you hear, feel, and express music. For me, Ben Wendel has been one of those rare artists.
The way he approaches melody, harmony, rhythm, and space completely changed my perspective on music and composition. His sound is deeply modern, emotional, intelligent, and honest at the same time. Listening to him made me understand that music doesn't always need to be loud or complex to say something powerful. Even today, his artistry continues to guide and inspire me. In many ways, Ben helped me shape the musician I am still becoming.

Sometimes in october 2009, while I was 18, I went to the Tamarin Hotel to assist the performance of a brilliant saxophonist, music teacher and virtuoso by the name of Ernest Wiehe. My saxophone, a faulty one,was in my possession on that auspicious night. At the very outset, I was amazed by the technique and clarity of Ernest in his performance. After some tunes, Ernest invited me on stage for a gig. I must admit that I have invoked all saints so that I did not mess up by Ernest side. I got a real sigh of relief when I was congratulated by Ernest after my first solo. Upon Ernest's invitation, I was invited to his place the next day for some instrumental proficiency development and understanding of jazz theory. Ernest is a real jazz master. From where he is amongst the stars, I wish to thank him from the bottom of my heart for the legacy he etched and for the most kind, giving, and loving human beings I will ever know.
