12,000 athletes. One setup. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Throwing it back to one of the most demanding projects we had the opportunity to be part of.

As part of the Sport Presentation Program for Paris 2024, our team supported the production of athlete presentation videos at all the stdiums hosting the Games.

Over the course of the project, we captured more than 12,000 athletes on a controlled setup, with every detail of the lighting and shooting environment carefully managed to maintain consistency across the production.

Behind every few seconds of content seen in an arena is a production built around precision, preparation and teamwork.

Après des jours de préparation, de repérages, de réunions et de plans détaillés, tout commence enfin à prendre forme.

La lumière est en place.
Les équipes sont prêtes.
La caméra tourne.

Et soudain, tout ce qui existait jusque-là sur le papier devient réel.

C’est probablement l’un des aspects que nous aimons le plus dans la production : voir des compétences, des idées et des personnes différentes se réunir autour d’une même vision.

Un film est rarement le résultat du travail d’une seule personne.

C’est une somme de décisions, de savoir-faire et de petites solutions trouvées en chemin.

Et lorsque tout s’aligne, même pour quelques secondes à l’écran, on comprend pourquoi tout ce travail en valait la peine.

200 years ago, a window became the world's first photograph.

In 1826, in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes, France, Nicéphore Niépce pointed a camera obscura towards the view outside his window.

He wasn't taking a photograph in the way we understand it today.

He was trying to solve a much bigger problem: how could light itself be used to permanently preserve an image?

Niépce coated a polished tin plate with bitumen of Judea and exposed it to the view outside. After hours of exposure and a careful chemical process, the fleeting image had been fixed.

He called the process "héliographie", or "writing with the sun."

That image, known as "View from the Window at Le Gras", is now considered the world's oldest surviving photograph.

Two hundred years later, the way we create images could hardly be more different.

We have digital cameras that can capture thousands of frames in seconds. We can shape light with precision, alter reality in post-production, create worlds with VFX and generate entirely new images with AI.

But perhaps the fundamental idea hasn't changed as much as we think.

We are still trying to capture something that exists for only a moment and turn it into something that can be seen again.

That is what makes the history of photography so fascinating for filmmakers.

The tools keep changing.

The way we see keeps changing.

But the desire to tell a story through an image remains.

As France begins its Bicentenaire de la Photographie, we're taking a moment to look back at where it began and forward to where images are taking us next.
