Strengthening Education and Economic Development Across Central America 🌎🤝

We are thrilled to announce the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Organization of American States (OAS), the Zamora Terán Foundation, and Rotary clubs from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

Signed today at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, this strategic partnership builds upon the success of our initial agreement three years ago. Together, we are expanding our impact to: ✅ Improve access to quality education ✅ Create new economic opportunities ✅ Strengthen resilient, inclusive communities across key regions in Central America

A special thank you to Rich Carlson, Rotary Representative to the OAS, for his pivotal role in shaping this framework. His leadership has helped transform our grassroots network into a powerful engine for public-private-civil society cooperation.

This new MOU marks a significant evolution in our strategy, demonstrating how local Rotary initiatives can effectively partner with multilateral institutions to drive sustainable regional development. We remain committed to aligning our actions with key international partners to build a more prosperous future for all.

Saviez-vous qu'en 1945, à San Francisco, 49 Rotariens venus de 29 pays ont activement participé à la rédaction de la Charte des Nations Unies ? 🖋️ Cette histoire incroyable continue de s'écrire aujourd'hui grâce à l'engagement de nos 𝟯𝟳 𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯𝘀 à travers le monde.

Chaque jour, nos bénévoles transforment des objectifs globaux en actions locales. Que ce soit pour la paix, l'éducation ou la santé, le Rotary n'est pas un simple observateur : c'est un partenaire de terrain qui finance ses propres projets grâce à sa Fondation. Une autonomie qui force le respect des plus grandes institutions !

🌍 Celebrating 80 Years of UNESCO!
On November 16, 1945, in the wake of a world devastated by conflict, a new conviction emerged: lasting peace cannot be secured by political agreements alone. It must be built in the minds of men and women through education, science, and culture.

As the Rotary International Representative to UNESCO, this anniversary is more than a commemoration. It is a moment to honor a long-standing partnership and reaffirm our shared mission to shape a future where every individual can learn, understand, and contribute to peace.

UNESCO and Rotary stand side by side around the same values:
• Education for all, without exception.
• Dialogue as the foundation of tolerance and mutual respect.
• Sustainable development, guided by science and international cooperation.

This connection runs deep. As early as 1942, Rotarians helped spark the discussions that led to UNESCO’s creation in 1945.
Today, this relationship is recognized at the highest level, with Rotary International holding "Associate status" at UNESCO—its top tier of official accreditation

Initiatives such as the Global Coalition for Education and the Green Education Partnership illustrate the strength of our collaboration. They offer Rotary clubs concrete pathways to amplify their global impact.

As we celebrate this 80th anniversary, we reaffirm a shared commitment: to champion education, safeguard our planet, preserve cultural heritage, and work toward a more peaceful and equitable world. Together, we can turn this vision into lasting, meaningful progress. 🌿📚✨
