Happy new year friends! Bonne année les amis !

(FRANÇAIS PLUS BAS)

After a real trainwreck of a year we're happy to share with you that our first documentary has made the official selection at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival!

Our Sea of Waste takes a look at plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea, and the people across France who are working together to put a stop to it.

The film will be available to stream for free starting in April on the new environmental doc platform WaterBear Network. If you'd like to support us and/or watch it early, you can buy the film for €2.99 at Vimeo On Demand (French version with English subtitles): https://vimeo.com/ondemand/ourseaofwaste

Thanks for reading. Here's hoping 2021 is kinder to all of us!

Diving in a liquid dumpster in Marseille, a first for both of us.

When it rains, all the litter on the streets gets washed into storm drains, which empty out into the sea. Winds and currents funnel the debris into certain areas, which turn into garbage patches.

We found plastic bags, bottles, a toilet seat, and TONS of disposable surgical masks (which are made out of plastic). 😷😷😷

While these patches are impressive, most in the seas and oceans is invisible, something we’ve been learning while working on our documentary this summer.

Shout out to for pointing us in the right direction!

Coffee game 💯

A serious upgrade from the instant coffee we were drinking at the start of our trip.

We get by with a little help from our friends. ⠀

Planning a round-the-world road trip means being prepared for a whole range of potential problems, many of them mechanical. ⠀

Here’s our friend William from showing Anca how to remove the spare tire, which is tucked under the back axle.⠀

He also showed us how to check the brakes, the motor oil and change an air filter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

From the archives:

In 2017 we bought an pickup truck, as a base for our new home on wheels.

We worked with to customize a camper that suited our needs.

And then in 2018 it all came together magically.

Now it’s 2020 and the world has changed in a way we didn’t anticipate, but we’re adapting and always moving forward!

Managing to dwarf even the mighty Mont Saint-Michel! 😜

(Which kinda looks like a Disney castle, right?)

That feeling when you find out your favorite wine is a place that you can visit where wine tastings are FREE.

Did you know? There are some 2,900 different types of wine in France. ⠀

That means you can find vineyards pretty much anywhere you go. It’s not just Bordeaux folks!⠀

If you go a bit off the beaten path you’ll find Anca’s favorite (and if you ask her the most underrated) French wine - Fitou AOP!⠀

Read more about this region and recommendations for wine tastings and picnic spots in our latest blog:
