"Building Environmentally Friendly Communities" Our commitment to balance community development with Yap CAP Program

Yap Community Action Program was founded in 1979, in Yap State, FSM with the goal of helping rural communities raise their standard of living.

But in recent years, with the many complications of modern life pounding on Yap's shores, its mission has grown as the demands on those same communities have grown. Yap CAP is equally dedicated to protecting and conserving Yap island environments and culture. Environmental Activities

The thrust of Yap CAP's environmental activities is providing support for environmental initiatives on Yap. Althou

Thank you to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority for a fantastic two days of informational sessions with our Australia Awards international coral reef management and leadership participants. We learned about resilience, zoning, tourism, engagement with traditional owners, coastal ecosystems, and finished with a discussion with GBRMPA Chairman and Chief Executive Dr. Russell Reichelt. Thank you to Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium for providing the perfect venue. Our fellows have learned a lot and are energized to tackle the rest of the week of management training.

World Water Day coming up!!

The United Nations' World Water Day is observed on March 22 each year to increase awareness on the importance of water in environment, agriculture, health etc. and to recognize the global need to save, conserve and manage water resources responsibly for future generations.

The theme this year is Water and Energy. Water and energy are inextricably linked - it takes energy to provide water in many cases, and water provides energy. Both water and energy are in limited supply, yet global demand is increasing.

Be a champion. Engage in activities to conserve water, spread awareness on WASH (WAter, Sanitation, Hygiene) crisis - at home, in the school, in the office, in the communities…
