Uudet muinaisjumala-, Ukko-korvakorut

Pienemmässä korvakorussa on geometrinen kuvio, joka löytyy Vitträskin kivikautisesta kalliomaalauksesta.

Kaikista tämän kuvion tulkinnoista pidän erityisesti ajatuksesta, että se kuvaa verkkoa, näkymätöntä kenttää, joka yhdistää kaiken, ja että mikään ei todella ole erillistä.

Ikään kuin tämän ajatuksen ilmentymänä, samanlaisia kuvioita esiintyy muinaisessa kalliomaalauksessa toisella puolella maapalloa, Serrania de la Lindosassa, Kolumbiassa.

En tiedä, mitä henkilö, joka maalasi kuvion Vitträskissä, sillä tarkoitti. M***a pidän siitä, että ehkä ajattelimme samaa asiaa — näkymättömän verkon yhdistämänä läpi ajan ja tilan.

A new pair of ancient deity, Ukko earrings

The smaller of these two earrings features a geometric pattern inspired by a Stone Age rock painting in Vitträsk, Finland.

Of all the interpretations of this kind of motif, the one I love is this: that it represents a web, an invisible field connecting all things. The idea that nothing is truly separate.

As if in echo of this, the same kind of patterns appear in ancient rock art on the other side of the world, at Serrania de la Lindosa, Colombia.

I don't know what the person who painted it in Vitträsk meant. But I like that we might have been thinking about the same thing — connected through time and space by an invisible net.

Two pairs of earrings made around old buttons. I've had these ancient buttons for so many years. They come from somewhere in the far east.

The first pair features an amber bead and rhinestone strands, while the other pair showcases an amethyst and tiny hessonite garnets.

In Finnish folk tradition, the otter was known both as vetisenä koirana — the water dog — and veden kissana — the cat of the water. It moved between two worlds, land and river, with ease.

Molempien korvakorujen kuparipyörylöissä on ikivanhat aurinkosymbolit: aurinkoristi, samankeskiset ympyrät ja spiraali.

Roikkuvat metalliosat ovat kierrätettyjä ja käsitelty vihertävällä värillä samoin kuin pyörylät.

Two pairs of aged-looking and lightweight earrings with carnelian leaves or African turquoise.

They both have stamped ancient solar symbols on the copper discs: a solar cross, concentric circles, and a spiral.

The hanging metal parts are recycled and finished with verdigris as are the discs.

Paluu korujuurilleni: tein koruja metallista ennen kuin savihommat veivät mennessään. Tilasin nämäkin pronssi- ja kuparipyörylät jo vuosia sitten.

Nyt palasin niiden pariin rannekoruja (olet ehkä jo nähnytkin täällä) ja korvakoruja varten.

Pronssi on niin kova materiaali että se piti hehkuttaa pehmeämmäksi ennen kuvioiden lyömistä siihen. Sen jälkeen tein reiät ja muotoilin pyörylät kuperiksi. Kuumentaminen tummentaa pronssin pinnan ja päätin jättää sen sellaiseksi.

Return to my jewellery roots: I used to make metal jewellery before the clay took over, and I ordered these bronze and copper discs years ago.

Now I came back to them for some bracelets (maybe you've already spotted them here) and earrings.

Bronze is a hard material, so I needed to anneal it by heating before stamping. After that I made the holes and forged each disc into a convex shape. The heating darkens the surface, and I decided to leave it that way.

Kolme eriväristä kolmerivistä rannekorua (kaksi jäljellä kaupassa). Kaikissa on kaksi aurinkosymbolein koristeltua pronssipyörylää.

Idea samansuuntaisista helmiketjuista pyörylöiden välissä lähti ajatuksesta mielen, kehon ja jokin syvemmän linjauksesta. Koru muistuttaa näiden tasapainosta ja keskittymisestä nykyhetkeen.

Three three-strand bracelets in different colours (two still available). They all have two bronze discs I decorated with sun symbol stampings.

The design with the parallel bead chains was inspired by the idea of alignment of mind, body and something deeper. It's a reminder to be aligned and concentrate on the now.

Or the past 😉 This design also reminds me of the Iron Age women's dress jewellery sets with their brooches.
