Born in Horro Guduru, Wallaga, Abishe Garba is known to many as Abishe Abba Mako because of his fighting heroism associated with horses.

The year 1854/5 was like a transitional year for the Ormo Jawwi tribe from which Abishe was born, according to historians.

History teacher Tariku Dheeressaa said that at this time the Jawwii Oromo , the Caffee Bulluq, faced two problems.

"The first problem is the death of the Jawwii military officer, Abishe's father, Mr. Garbaa Hurruubaa. The second problem is the arrival of enemy troops who have come across Mormor to occupy Jawwii land," he said.

After the death of Garbaa Hurruubaa, the chief of the Jaawwii Gada, the Gada council could not meet to elect a successor because the troops of Raas Adal Tasammaa crossed the Mormor River and invaded lands such as Amuruu, Horroo and Guduruu.

Therefore, his son Abishe Garba inherited his father's military crown and fought against the enemy who invaded the Jawwii land.

The era of Abishe fighting enemies on many battlefields was in the absence of modern weapons and his heroism is praised for fighting with spears and shields on horseback.

Thus, he is also said to have resisted many invasions of the Maccaa Oromo lands across the Mormor River expansion.

Among the many battles that Abishe won on horseback is the Battle of 'Goda Kokor' which is always mentioned by his name.

For this reason, the Oromo ,especially the Maccaa Oromo, still praise Abishe as a symbol of Heroism, the historian said.

Even the bride speaks to her future husband in proverbs about Abishe's heroism.
