Strengthening Voter Awareness in Moyale City.

PIADO, in collaboration with the National Election Board of Ethiopia Moyale Branch, conducted voter awareness and community mobilization sessions for youth, women, volunteers, community leaders, influential individuals, and elders from 10 kebeles of Moyale City.
The sessions focused on voter eligibility, election-day procedures, voter responsibilities, and promoting peaceful, informed, and inclusive participation in the upcoming election. Voter education materials in Afan Oromo, including flyers and pictorial guides, were used to enhance understanding and accessibility.
A total of 95 participants, including 8 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), attended the sessions. Trained participants will now cascade key messages across their communities through household visits, group discussions, peer engagement, and community gatherings, contributing to the effort to reach 83,139 eligible voters in Moyale City.
Together, we continue promoting informed, inclusive, and peaceful democratic participation.

PIADO actively participated in the Child-Centered Trigger-Based Anticipatory Action (AA) Workshop and Action Planning Meeting held in Moyale from 7–9 May 2026, in collaboration with Save the Children (SCI), government sector offices, and key stakeholders.
The workshop brought together representatives from SCI Moyale Project Office, PIADO, and woreda sector offices, including Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Health, Livestock, Water, and Education sectors, to strengthen collaboration on climate preparedness and child-centered anticipatory action programming.
Through the engagement, partners jointly developed an action plan to initiate implementation of the HF-funded Trigger-Based Anticipatory Action Pilot Project 2026 BUILD Phase activities during May–June 2026.
A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to establish monthly monitoring meetings to track emerging risks, early warning alerts, local observations, and climate forecasts from national, regional, and global sources. These regular coordination platforms will strengthen evidence-based decision-making and support timely activation of both BUILD and FUND phases of Anticipatory Action interventions.
PIADO remains committed to working with partners to strengthen child-centered climate services, early action systems, and community resilience, helping vulnerable children and communities prepare for and respond to risks before crises escalate.
