A human flag variation that is a bit easier to hold but looks cool, and you can start incorporating "walking" up and down.

Practice, practice and more practice..one thing leads to another and opens up new possibilities.

Although I still have by no means mastered the handstand and my line will always need work, I have found that now my wrists can take the weight of my body, working through exercises in preparation for the OAHS - One Arm Handstand, some of which I picked up at Yuval's brilliant handstand workshop, is a great strengthening tool for the handstand as well. In fact, after stretching I go straight into the OAHS exercises, after which the regular handstand seems comparatively easy, since all the muscles in the upper body that hold a handstand have now been activated and have been taking twice the load.

This allows for the focus to shift back to improving the line and hold a more stable handstand for longer periods of time.

Crossfit vs. Gymnastics 13/01/2015

So it has been a while since my last post, and I have been seeing a lot of people getting into what they like to call "the latest trend" Crossfit. Which is basically circuit training and has been around forever but if you give something a cool name and pump in a few billion in marketing then suddenly there is a new trend in fitness.

So circuit training/Crossfit is basically just training different parts of your body with different machinery/exercises.

Gymnastics is the sport that actually combines movement, strength, balance, flexibility, technique and skill, as opposed to just focusing on the strength aspect without any consideration for proper technique or form.

(To be fair, this depends on the individual trainer or coach, however, there is a fundamental contrasting mentality between the two.

"Crossfit" is about forcing you to do as many repetitions of an exercise as possible in a time frame, whether it is performed correctly or terribly often resulting in injury or simply the individual will be putting more effort in to get less results.

Whereas Gymnastics focuses on form and technique. You do as many repetitions as you can while maintaining perfect form.

This video perfectly demonstrates how the two differ, as fairly young slim boys take on the large men from a crossfit gym.

Ps. Hardly any of the crossfit team actually manage the rings muscle ups without kipping(kicking up) and even still, with awful technique.
