Many advocate for equitable cooperation across regions, but few know how to put it into practice.

At a workshop organized by the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service in Slovenia, Obreal joined the Association of African Universities and other actors from Africa and Europe to exchange experiences and produce a position paper with concrete recommendations on how to build equitable partnerships. During two days, participants discussed power dynamics, funding asymmetries, the role of the university as a development agent, and the potential of South-South and multilateral approaches.

¿Puede el turismo adaptarse al cambio climático?

Esta es la pregunta que abrirá el webinar que Obreal organiza el próximo 22 de junio en el marco del Proceso de Diálogo Interregional: un espacio de intercambio entre especialistas e investigadores de América Latina y Europa para pensar juntos los desafíos que enfrenta el sector turístico ante la crisis climática.

El encuentro tendrá como eje la presentación del libro "Cambio climático y turismo en América Latina y Europa: un enfoque interregional hacia la resiliencia", resultado del proyecto Climarerasmus. Una publicación que reúne investigaciones, experiencias y propuestas de universidades de ambas regiones para fortalecer la resiliencia climática del turismo desde una perspectiva colaborativa e interdisciplinaria.

Obreal presented the Interregional Dialogue Process at the 1st Brazil–Africa Rectors' Forum, a landmark event in academic cooperation between Brazil and Africa that brought together more than 150 university leaders, academic associations, and multilateral actors in Brasília.

Obreal's contribution focused on the importance of linking South–South cooperation initiatives to broader interregional processes, to avoid fragmentation and strengthen shared agendas in higher education, science, and development.

During the Forum, Obreal held bilateral conversations with Brazilian and African universities and networks around future collaboration in interregional dialogue activities, joint workshops, and project development.
