🏡 What Is Modo’s Place?
Modo’s Place isn’t just a guesthouse — it’s a cultural hub and community heart on the West Bank of Luxor, tucked away near the temples of Medinet Habu.
It was originally built by a local family — simple mudbrick architecture, open courtyards, palm-wood beams, and hand-painted walls — blending Nubian, Theban, and rural styles. Over time, it became a meeting point for artists, travelers, and the Rotary’s “تراث المحروسة / Turas El-Mahrousa” heritage revival project.

Now it’s managed under that vision — part ecolodge, part community workshop, and part creative space.

🌅 Atmosphere & Setting
As we enter through the gate, you’ll notice:

A garden shaded by palm trees and bougainvillea.

The faint smell of woodfire and herbs.

Clay sculptures and handmade crafts displayed on the walls.

Cats napping in the sun, musicians sometimes rehearsing, and artisans weaving or carving nearby.

From the rooftop terrace, you can see:

The Theban hills rising in the west (Valley of the Kings behind them).

The Nile glinting toward the east, with the Luxor Temple silhouette at sunset.
It’s one of the best hidden viewpoints on the West Bank.

Modo’s Place has become the central point for the Rotary Cultural Hub initiative — especially your project, Fathi — so it’s not just a guesthouse anymore, but a living classroom and marketplace:

The café serves fresh mint tea, honey-lemon drinks, and the famous Luxor banana pancakes.

🧭 How to Get There
From the ferry dock, you can take a tuk-tuk (10–15 EGP) or a shared taxi (5–10 EGP).

The ride takes around 10 minutes through the village roads of Habu.

Ask anyone for “Modo’s Place fi Habu gamb el-madafa” — locals all know it.

When you reach, you’ll see a small sign with a palm tree and the words “Modo’s Place – Handcraft & Culture” painted on a wooden board.

Arrive before sunset, grab a tea on the rooftop, and watch how the light fades over the desert hills — the whole landscape turns golden, and you’ll understand why this place feels timeless.
