From Rags to Riches

From Rags To Riches (a project conceived by Baad El Bahr Cultural Association) is totally devoted to public art made with up-cycled materials. This definition properly refers to works of art made of unconventional materials that have been planned and executed with the specific purpose of being sited or staged in the physical public domain, usually outdoors and accessible to all. From Rags to Riches aims at increasing sensibility and awareness of the community towards the public space and the environment. The project will be structured as it follows:
• A workshop open to all (maximum 20 participants) to tackle the issues of public art and recycled materials and improve knowledge and ability of the artists in the field.
• A final open air exhibition selecting 20 proposals of artistic productions created and realized by Egyptian artists. The project is supported by:

عن المشروع:

بعد البحر هى جمعية مصرية تعنى بالفن المعاصر بوصفه مجالا لبناء الجسوربين الثقافات، وتطمح الجمعية بأن يتم التعامل مع الفن يصفته ضرورة أكثر من كونه رفاهية، وذلك باختيارأفضل طرق الممارسة ، والإبداع الفني، والابتكار في المجال الثقافي.
وفى هذا الإطار، بادرت الجمعية بطرح هذا المشروع " من المهمل الى الثمين "، بوصفه مشروعا مخصصا بكامله للفن العام ، كما تتنفذ الأعمال المشاركة فيه من خامات غير تقليدية و مواد معاد تدويرها ، يتم اختيار الأعمال وتنفيذها وفقا لمواصفات المواقع التى سيتم وضعها فيها بشكل نهائي ، وأغلبها أماكن مفتوحة ، ومتاحة للجميع .

يضم المشروع :

• ورشة عمل
ورشة مفتوحة للجميع (بحد أقصى 20 مشاركا ) تدور أعمال الورشة حول القضايا المتعلقة بوضع الأعمال الفنية فى الأماكن العامة ، والأسئلة والأفكار المرتبطة باستخدام المواد المعاد تدويرها كخامات فنية ، وتطوير خبرات وقدرات الفنانين المشاركين في هذا المجال.

• معرض فى الهواء الطلق :

يضم المعرض الأعمال التى سيتم اختيارها من بين إنتاج الفنانين المصريين المشاركين فى الورشة، وعددها عشرون عملا .
