What Made You
What Made You Podcast- the story behind the spotlight.
Meet the voice that opens and closes each episode!
Brett Carney-Radler is a dear friend and has been working in voiceovers and radio since 2009, getting his start at the Rutgers University radio station, WRSU, and interning at Magic 98.3/WMGQ New Brunswick, NJ. The internship quickly led to an on-air position, and he has since been heard in every daypart on the station. Today, he hosts afternoons daily from 3-8 p.m.
In addition to his work at Magic 98.3, Brett was also a part-time on-air talent on Mix 99.5 WJBR in Wilmington, DE, from 2021 through 2023 until the station’s sale.
Beyond radio, Brett has lent his voice to numerous commercials for local businesses and podcasts, including What Made You with Deanna Marie. Brett has also been active with community events, from Central Jersey’s March of Dimes and American Heart Association walks, to the Nemours Children’s Health “Help Our Kids” radiothon.
He resides in Philadelphia with his husband, Chuck, where they do their best to live their best mid-20s lives… in their mid-30s.
Not every seat at the table on The Voice is earned the same way.
In this clip, shares how he didn’t even sign himself up—his friend did. And while most of his season came in through social media scouting, he was the only one who actually showed up the old-school way: standing in line in L.A., hoping for a shot.
It’s a reminder that sometimes your “break” doesn’t look like a strategy… it looks like someone else believing in you before you even do.
Would you trust a friend enough to let them sign you up for something that big?

Sometimes you feel drawn to write and release a song that may come with public backlash. Crashing Atlas wrote a song with Kellin Quinn from Sleeping with Sirens, and it may have been a reflection of some peoples' truth, while others may have found it offensive.
