PVI Masterclass is an international, competency-based program focused on Patient–Ventilator Interaction (PVI) and waveform literacy.

Built for bedside clinicians, it teaches a structured, phase-based diagnostic approach.

Register for the PVI Masterclass to master the ventilator waveforms
Our expert Ariel Garnero will introduce the Taxonomy of Modes of Mechanical Ventilation as part of the PVI Masterclass.
What you’ll take away:
• Why the rapid evolution of ventilator technology has created an education gap and how we close it
• A practical framework to decode any mode using TAG:
o Control variable (Volume vs Pressure)
o Breath sequence (CMV / IMV / CSV)
o Targeting scheme (set-point, adaptive, dual, optimal, servo, etc.)
• A faster way to anticipate asynchronies and make brand-agnostic ventilator decisions
If you’ve ever asked, “What is this mode really doing?” this session is for you.

Launch Announcement | PVI Masterclass - Starting 1 April 2026

The ventilator “speaks” through pressure, flow, and volume. The question is whether we read that language well enough to prevent harm.

We launch the PVI Masterclass focusing on Patient–Ventilator Interaction, a structured, competency-based program designed to close the training gap in waveform literacy, asynchrony assessment, and bedside decision-making.

This Masterclass is a collaborative initiative developed jointly by the PVI Network, Saving Lives Academy, and the Society of Mechanical Ventilation (SMV) and it is endorsed by the Society of Mechanical Ventilation.

The program is supported by Hamilton Medical as an industry partner, helping enable high-quality education at scale.

What makes this Masterclass different?
• Waveform-first learning: diagnosis begins with the ventilator signal
• A phase-based framework (trigger → inspiratory delivery → cycling → expiratory phase)
• Practical translation of patterns into targeted interventions
• Strong focus on lung- and diaphragm-protective ventilation reducing risk of P-SILI and VIDD.
• Delivered by an international faculty with deep expertise in mechanical ventilation and PVI

This is built for intensivists, anesthesiologists, pulmonologists, critical care trainees, respiratory therapists, ICU nurses involved in ventilation.

Start date: 1 April 2026
Format: Hybrid (structured online content + live interactive sessions)
