**Aswan University’s Computing and Artificial Intelligence Research Center Team Participates in the Third Edition of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad Achieving First rank as University team**

In an academic achievement that reflects Aswan University’s excellence and leadership in advanced technology fields, the team of the **Computing and Artificial Intelligence Research Center** at the Faculty of Engineering – Aswan University – is participating in the **Third Edition of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad**, competing in the **Cybersecurity track**.

The team comprises male and female students from the Faculty of Engineering and is led by student **Noha Nour El-Din Abdel-Hakim**, presenting an honorable model that highlights young women’s ability to lead, innovate, and compete in advanced technological fields, particularly artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

This participation comes under the auspices of the **Women Empowerment in Cybersecurity Project**, a joint collaboration between **Aswan University** and **Glasgow Caledonian University**, funded by the **British Council**.

This participation represents the culmination of a comprehensive and sustained effort by the project, which began with awareness and guidance programs for young women in Upper Egypt on the importance of cybersecurity and the fundamentals of digital protection. It then evolved into hands-on training and capacity building, culminating in the implementation of the **first Capture The Flag (CTF) competition in Upper Egypt**, with the participation of female and male students from the Faculty of Engineering. This initiative significantly contributed to forming an effective core of young women and men specializing in cybersecurity in Upper Egypt.

In this context, Professor Dr. Mohamed Orabi, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that the scientific and academic supervision of the team and the responsibility for implementing the project from the Egyptian side are undertaken by Dr. Ghada Abozaid and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samia Heshmat, under the patronage and follow-up of Professor Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, Vice Dean for Student Affairs. This comes within the framework of the Faculty’s ongoing support for student initiatives and projects that promote academic excellence, women’s empowerment, and youth capacity building in the fields of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

Scientific Visit to Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), Scotland 🇬🇧

I am delighted to share highlights from our recent scientific visit to Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) in Glasgow, Scotland.
The visit was part of a collaborative mission by the Aswan University delegation, led by Prof. Mohamed Orabi, VP of Research and Graduate studies of Aswan University, and I was honored to be part of this distinguished team.
We had highly fruitful and engaging discussions with our colleagues at GCU, led by Professor Mohamed Emad Farrag, alongside Dr. Salma and Dr. Ahmed. Our meetings focused on strengthening academic collaboration, exploring joint research opportunities, and developing sustainable international partnerships.
As part of the visit, I had the pleasure of delivering a lecture to cybersecurity students together with my colleague Dr. Salma. The session enabled meaningful academic exchange and interactive discussions with talented and motivated students.

We also highlighted the "Empowering Women in Cybersecurity" project, an important initiative aimed at promoting inclusion, capacity building, and leadership opportunities for women in the cybersecurity field. The project is funded by the British Council, and this visit forms part of its collaborative activities and knowledge-exchange framework. The project is led by Dr. Salma Mohamed and Dr. Ghada Abozaid as Principal Investigators. Their efforts represent a significant step toward strengthening diversity and advancing women’s participation in technology and cybersecurity.

We also had a wonderful opportunity to meet several PhD students and learn more about their impressive and innovative ongoing research projects. It was inspiring to see the depth and diversity of their work.
It was a great honor to meet Prof. Sharon Dolan, Interim Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Associate Dean. Our discussion explored future cooperation frameworks, research development opportunities, and potential institutional collaboration between Aswan University and GCU.
In addition, we had the valuable opportunity to visit Whitelee Windfarm, Europe’s largest onshore windfarm, located on Eaglesham Moor just 20 minutes from Glasgow. The visit was truly inspiring and highlighted Scotland’s leadership in renewable energy and sustainability.
This visit represents an important step toward strengthening global academic networks and transforming dialogue into impactful joint initiatives.
Looking forward to continued collaboration and shared success between Aswan University and GCU.
