Dear Cotacachi Community, we are excited to share that the Ebenezer Foundation Transformation Center is moving from Iluman to a new location in Cotacachi.
A local Ecuador resident is generously providing us with a large unfinished house and lot rent-free until our new facility is constructed on land the Cotacachi Municipio is donating to us.
Our task is to finish construction and purchase items needed to operate the new facility.
Our goal is to move our existing 7 clients into the new building by June 1st, 16 days from now.
Please help in any way you can! If you would like to volunteer your labor, let us know.

Club Lomas almost ready. New Club Lomas residents will begin moving in the week of April 8th. The social club with a swimming pool, whirlpool bath, sauna and Turkish steam bath, exercise room and pickleball court will also be ready to go. A limited number of non-resident club memberships are available to those over 55. Call Gary Phillips at 099-001-4696, or call the number in the ad.

Do you believe in Miracles? Linda and I are living one. Twenty months ago, I, Gary, had a car accident at 9 p.m. on a rainy night. Two angels rapidly emerged in the form of a young Ecuadorian couple, Jose and Kary, who heard the crash, came out of their home/restaurant to help me. From that point on for two months they took care of every detail of the accident including getting my car repaired, with no thought for any kind of return.

In the process, we learned that Jose received a vision while in addiction treatment that Cotacachi needed such a center that had helped him so much. What could we do? We had to help. So we started meeting with them every week for a year. Then we added a few more people to help realize the dream. Foundation Ebenezer was formed. And we coined the term, Centro de Transformation, or Transformation Center as a new and unique approach to dealing with societal problems.

On Thanksgiving day about 50 people joined together to celebrate Jose’s 3 years of sobriety, Thanksgiving day, and the inauguration of our brand new, fully equipped Transformation Center in Iluman. It is now ready to receive clients. How that happened is a story for later, but it’s amazing! As the miracle continues, we are anticipating startup funding to get us through the first 3 or 4 months of operation at which time we expect to be self-sustaining through user fees and kind hearts. I know a few people reading this are being touched and feel called to get involved. We welcome you with open arms. What ever your interest, send me a PM and let’s talk. It's been several years since we posted on our pro-Ecuador page. We've now lived in Ecuador 17 years, and on our land for 10. We've planted thousands of trees and plants, created gardens, ponds, and two houses and a tiny house. We've decided to get active on Facebook once again, talking about life in Ecuador, permaculture, gardening, and a new job Gary has as sales representative for a brand new 59 unit Senior living/assisted living complex under construction in Cotacachi. Much has changed in Cotacachi since arrived here in 2006. What hasn't changed is the wonderful climate, warm friendly people, incredible food and easy living.
