𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, our cutting edge venture emerged as a joint initiative of Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh and Oncology Club Bangladesh commenced to cultivate young medical students committed to be appeared as future cancer leaders. 36 selected medical students from Dhaka Medical College, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Mymensingh Medical College, Dhaka National Medical College, Faridpur Medical College & Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura enrolled in this competitive project showing utmost interest to absorb and implement the learning opportunities availed by this platform.

Perceiving the fundamental for the youngsters enrolled, a thoroughly crafted curriculum was designed for an year outlining key learning opportunities in cancer education, leadership, community approach & more importantly research. The training sessions addressed were both physical and virtual facilitated in an engaging & interactive manner mastered by reputed mentors in this arena. The flagship event was a 2 days long intensive bootcamp arranged to guide them to perform their role with highest productivity.

Throughout the year, the ambassadors took part in many community outreach activities like leaflet distribution and awareness camp, virtual awareness competitions, arranging seminar on their own medical college to highlight role of medical students on cancer control as well career opportunity in Oncology leaving a testament to their leadership quality. The apex of their skill implementing expedition was completing a research work on given title which later on got chance of a lifetime to be showcased on The Global Health Catalyst Summit 2024.

On 12th December, 2024 The Global Health Catalyst Summit took place & was honoured by the presence of esteemed personalities from home & abroad who gave invaluable time sharing their in-depth knowledge & expertise in respective field. Amongst many segments offered in the day, the session dedicated to Cancer Leader Development Program for Medical Students stole the spotlight. Ambassadors from 6 medical colleges got a golden opportunity to present their research on big screen. This noble venture had been highly praised by the panellist Prof. Dr. Alessio G Morganati, Prof Jamal Kadir as well respected personnel around the globe.

Through this project participants reported a significant improvement in their learning & proficiency. On basis of a thorough evaluation of performance throughout the year, Dhaka National Medical College was declared as the best performer team and on individual basis, Jarin Tasnim from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura was honoured as the best performer. Rest of the participants were certified glorifying their endeavour.

We take immense pride to share, this project has left a long lasting impact in Oncology sector of Bangladesh as well has illuminated the global health catalyst on youth empowerment. This milestone couldn’t be achieved without the dedication and spirit of Dr. Mohammad Masumul Haque, Founder & Secretary General, Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh, the project lead who took all responsibilities on his shoulder to get it to the top. Special note of appreciation to the project coordinator Dr. Saima Sajneen & the research facilitator Miss Tahmina Akhter for amplifying the spectrum of apprehension.

Hai, President, Oncology Club Bangladesh, Dr. A F M Kamaluddin, Associate Prof, Dept of Radiation Oncology, National Institute of ENT & Scientific Secretary, Oncology Club Bangladesh, Dr. Mithila Faruque, Associate Prof. & Head, Dept of NCD, BUHS, Dr. Mostafa Aziz Sumon, Head, Dept of Oncology, Kurmitola General Hospital for their invaluable contribution.

The zealous initiative taken was a resounding success achieving it’s objective of enhancing participants skill & self-development and equipping them with the confidence to excel in their roles. With engaging facilitation, contribution of experts & a focus on real-world application, it delivered tangible results & positive outcome for participants & the organisations elucidating an enlightened path towards the time ahead. After achieving the peak of success, we are looking forward to unlocking the next season with an optimistic perspective.

Seminar on Cancer Prevention and Career Scope in Oncology, a virtual event was organised by the Campus Ambassadors of Sir Salimullah Medical College under the project “Cancer Leader Development Program for Medical Students”. The seminar held on 29th November, 2024 utilising virtual platform Zoom, facilitated by Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh in affiliation with Oncology Club Bangladesh as the parent organizations of the project. The ambassadors of respective medical college set an outstanding performance as a given task of their project curriculum proving their proficiency.

Around 100 enthusiastic medical students enrolled in midst of their high academic pressure showcasing utmost interest to absorb the learning opportunities availed by this platform.
The event had Dr. Mohammad Masumul Haque, founder & secretary general, Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh as chief guest. In addition, many more eminent consultants and faculties of the medical college attended the seminar marking it remarkable.

The seminar started with shedding light on career opportunities available in rapidly evolving oncology field. It truly guided to a smart career choice. Following that, the ambassadors presented how young medicos play an important role to combat cancer as medical personnel. The attendees got a privilege to witness practical activities led by the ambassadors in respective arena which inspired them to engage in the battle against cancer.
The astounding event got highly interactive throwing a question answer session with audience. In a nutshell it created massive impact equipping a great number of medical students with the expertise to play a pivotal role in cancer control as well demonstrating approachable career scopes.

The Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh organized a screening session at Akij College of Home Economics this November on 28-11-2024. As part of the event, a free clinical breast examination and consultancy services were offered to both the faculty and students of the college.

In addition, individual concerns were addressed and evaluated by professional physicians, ensuring the highest standards of care.

As a part of their project curriculum, the representative team has left a testament to their bewildering expertise inspiring hundreds of attendees. The seminar was facilitated by Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh in association with Oncology Club Bangladesh as the parent organisations of the project.

Over 150 aspired young medicos participated showing supreme interest to be a part of this learning venture exceeding the announced capacity limit which truly sets an example of excellence.

The occasion was bestowed with the
engagement of the honourable principal of Mymensingh Medical College, Professor Md. Nazmul Alam Khan, Principal and Head Of Department of Radiology and Imaging as chief guest. It was furthermore graced by the presence of Dr. Mohammad Masumul Haque, founder & secretary general, Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh.

The seminar addressed insightful discussions on diverse opportunities and smart career choices in the rapidly evolving oncology field led by experts.
As well the ambassadors took the opportunity to enlighten & encourage hundreds of young medicos how they can play a pivotal role in cancer control. They also shared their working experiences in respective arena to stimulate the enthusiastic audience.
