The music industry has been identified as an export activity with growth potential for the countries of the OECS of which Dominica is a member.
Though music is widely used and appreciated in Dominica, and is considered an essential ingredient in the tourism sector, the industry as an independent economic activity has not received much attention. At the same time a body representing professionals in the nascent music industry has been lacking. This lacuna has been rectified since November 2007 with the formation of the Association of Music

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), through the Cultural and Creative Industries Innovation Fund (CIIF) and the SheTrades Caribbean Hub, is inviting women‑led music businesses across the Caribbean to apply for the Women in Music Market Access Programme.
This initiative will support a select group of women business managers, music publishers, songwriters, producers, and music tech developers to participate in WOMEX 2026, one of the world’s premier music trade platforms, taking place in October 2026 in Gran Canaria, Spain.
